Win one, lose a lot.
The game with Ottawa was there for the taking, and the CBJ could not take it. That is the best line up they can put out (except for putting Chinakov on the 4th line instead of Junin or Aston-Reece), and they could not win the game.
Add in that day's results plus Montreal beating Florida today (Sunday), and the Rangers winning Saturday, and it is sadly becoming obvious the team is not good enough to be a playoff team.
Further, they have won a lot shootouts, sadly, too many shootouts, because every team left in the playoff race has more Regulation wins, Regulation/Overtime wins, and total wins than the CBJ. That means they are losing any tiebreakers that matter.
(Note: The CBJ owns the 5th TB (Total Goals scored) over everyone else, and the 4th TB is still up in the air at this point.)
So, at this point it time to ask a question: Does the CBJ try to sign Marner as an FA, try to resign Provorov, and eat tons of salary to trade Severson, get a FA Goalie, and any of a dozen other moves that could be made to get this team to the top of the East next year? |
