Didn't Vegas also get a dedicated UFA window where only they could negotiate with free agents? I don't recall if Seattle also had this benefit. |

If I recall Seattle was able to negotiate with players that were going to be free agents before the expansion draft, but if they signed them that was their selection from that team. Not sure if that's what you're referencing or if Vegas was allowed to outright negotiate with players after their expansion draft. |

I don’t think there will be numerous offer sheets. Broberg and Holloway were in a unique position. The perfect storm and Army took advantage. Trying to guess what players will be successful is a crap shoot. Finding a contending team with cap issues and GOOD youngsters that are looking for opportunity is harder than it seems. |

Its not going to be that easy.
Teams have to have their own picks and cap space. Find other teams with limited cap space and RFA who players who unhappy but also going to be a good fit.
The stuff recently about Edmonton trying to be retaliator is nonsense. Hofer is only Blues RFA. They dont have their first because of the Walman Trade, so max value would be 4.5 per year and 2nd round pick. They cant carry 7+ million cap hit at goalie position. Or give up more assets to dump Skinner.
If anything they low ball him an offer they know blues will match just for "optics" based on how bad they look for the Broberg/ Holloway situation. Basically doing the blues negotiation work for them. |

With the Cap going up it's gonna be hard to force teams not to match. St. Louis took advantage of Edmontons bad cap situation and forced the Oilers to make a bad trade. And the amount of Good Rfas are reducing too. Thier just aren't many teams with Cap problems that have good players they in RFA status that can't resign them. I think maybe in 3 to 5 years Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose might have Cap problems. But you do have to worry about retaliation of your RFA players too. So it probably still gonna be rare. |
