Brock and his team worst -25 can eff off. As a leader on this club his work ethic should be something that stands out and frankly I just haven't seen that. Someone will overpay for him this summer and I sure as hell hope it isn't us.

Great effort from the rest of the group though these last 2 road games. Who would have thought we would sweep the Avs this season and out score them 10-2 in the process?

Leave it to the Canucks to win meaningless games and ruin draft position. This proves every fan that said we should have traded Boeser for w/e we can get, same with Suter were right.

It was a good game last night, the boys played well.

The best part of the game was EPD pummeling O'Connor. Nice work by him.

Not sure if you've been reading the quotes, but the players don't give two fucks about draft position. This level of compete (yes, that's been missing much of the season) has a net positive on the young guys on the team, and hopefully the disappointment fuels them for next year.

As for trading, hindsight is easy. Sure they could have/probably should have, but Blues fans were calling for them to sell players off, and look at them now.

These rallies at the end of the season have not translated to better hockey the next season, so i find that theory to be a heaping load of shit.

Good effort only matters at seasons end, after the team is pretty much out of it, the rest of the season is meaningless.

Considering that many of the players might not be on the team, the effort at this point doesn't matter. They're all playing for jobs and the teams they're playing against are in the playoffs and playing out the string and playing about 80 percent to try and avoid injuries and rest up for the start. Considering how weak this draft is, it's not going to matter where we are in it, we aren't getting a Top 6/Top 4 forward that's going to be with a very high ceiling, just a high floor.

This organization needs to take a page out of the Bruins playback, a few seasons back, they were smart enough to realize they were not good enough to make the playoffs, they traded several players at TDL, for a quick retool. This season, they traded several of their best players, including Marchand, because they again, were smart enough to realize they weren't making the playoffs.
That is what good organizations do.

Didn’t the Bruins just sign Lindholm to a retirement contract? Looks like big Z is wearing out his welcome as well.

That's not completely true. When Tocc first came in, that half-year surge led directly to last year's success: the ideas, system, and demand he instilled/asked of them was 100% a translation into last year.

As I said in the blog, while the late-season surges might not be an exact correlation, I'd be more concerned if the team was going through the motions right now, or weren't concerned about their effort. That'd point at something more systemic with the makeup of the team. Trying to instill a winning culture is hard, and it's much harder if your players are just quitting on the team at the end of the year.

I think last year was the exception, not the rule.
The team seemed to quit at the start of the year and then throughout the season. Two out 3 of their best players quit at the start of the season with Miller and Pouty sucking to start the season.
Playing well in the last 5 games of the season does not carry over in October, in my opinion.

I think there were numerous factors that led to this year being the way it was. Tocc has mentioned multiple times guys thinking it would be easy/not being fully energized. The season started off with injuries (Joshua, Demko, Petey if you believe it impacted his off-season training), then led to a lot of drama (which numerous players and even Allvin have name checked as a hurdle but not excuse to the season), which compounded the roster problems, etc.

Again, late season pushes don't always translate. But they have. A lot of people/us were chastising management for hiring Tocc when they did because they wanted a higher draft pick and it wasn't going to matter if they hired him then or if they waited. I'd rather they have this culture of pushing than just quitting. Even Raty saying the other night that after their comeback against the Stars he'll have this belief that being down 3 is able to be overcome. It's a good primer for the young guys to grow in that environment, which hopefully spills over.

Lindholm has been a disappointment, although he has been used more as a bit of a shutdown guy. He is take a lot of important draws and is 55% on the draw.
Zadorov is everything they had wanted, big strong defenseman, who clears the net, takes care of the physical end and is a + 21, on a team loaded with players in the negatives, all will playing 2nd pair minutes, over 20 of them.

Thanks NYN, I don’t understand why posters think the players will just roll over and quit, maybe that is their attitude to their life’s challenges but it certainly wouldn’t be mine.
I also see a contradiction saying they have nothing to play for yet are literally playing for the team and their futures.
And how is stating other clubs that don’t make the playoffs are so much better managed, had foresight to sell and then make excuses for how (frank)ing bad they are.

I hope they resign Tocchet, and look forward to the next Canucks season.

I heard big Z has pissed off a few teammates, called out Swayman for his poor play. I like Zadorov because he speaks his mind. Lindholm hasn’t looked good since Johnny and Chucky left, he needs someone to prop him up.

I hope they fire JR/PA/Tocchet and start over with Hughes as the focal point and build out from him. It'll never happen, but it's what I'd like, along with the pipe dream that FA sells to Chip Wilson and Ryan Reynolds.
