Excellent moral victory. Hughes must be so happy with this team direction.

Huge win for the boys last night. Need a big win over Vegas, to catch those stinking Flames, and win the coveted Pretender Cup

I think Utah passes the Canucks with a victory over the Blues on Wednesday.

That is quite possible, but the Canucks will kick Vegas' butt shortly there after to regain the lead over Utah.

Flames lose to Vegas, Utah wins against Blues, Flames are so giddy because there is still a chance but Kings slaughter Flames and Blues take the 2nd wild card. Canucks put up a good defensive game but lose 2-1 to Vegas.

Everybody is happy Canucks get the coveted 14th overall draft slot and the cycle begins again.

No crystal ball, just BS I came up with.

Who's projected around 14-16 in the draft that the Canucks could/should target?

This guy at 12- 14 looks good. BC boy as well, so the Canucks wont take him...

Lynden Lakovic
Ht/Wt: 6' 4"/185 lbs
Position: LW
Team: Moose Jaw (WHL)

Lynden Lakovic's Player Profile
Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 26th: "Lakovic is an intriguing prospect. He’s a big body forward who can be elusive in open ice with his effortless stride. He’s difficult to check when he’s handling the puck due to his long reach and stature."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 25th: "He’s still got room to improve his scanning, off-puck play and decision-making, and his physicality needs to be more consistent, but his ability both in transition and protecting pucks in the offensive zone can really pop and he’s got clear top-nine projectability with good coaching. When he’s on pucks and up and under sticks and winning inside body positioning he can be really noticeable in a game with his skating, strength, power and skill."

Smaht Scouting - March 23rd: "Lakovic, a 6-foot-4 winger with impressive speed, combines strong puck protection, quick hands, and a scoring touch. He has improved his vision and playmaking but still needs to refine his scanning, off-puck awareness, and consistency in physical play."

Kareem Elshafey - FC Hockey - March 9th: "Lakovic is a 6-foot-4 winger who plays more of a finesse and skill game rather than a physically dominating one. He skates extremely well and does a good job of protecting the puck, which makes him a major threat in transition."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 28th: "He isn't a physical player in the sense that he's going out there and crushing guys, but he leverages his size quite well most of the time. Lakovic is a lethal shooter, and his playmaking is far better than he's given credit for."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 26th: "He’s at the high-end of this draft class in the 3S categories: skating, size and skill. Using all of those elements to become more of an inside presence will help his cause."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - February 21st: "Lakovic is an outstanding skater for a player his size (6-4, 190). He has the ability to skate through checks or put a defender on his hip, using his length to protect the puck and use another asset: his outstanding shot."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - February 21st: "Lakovic has a frame and skill set that bring to mind Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson. He's a high-end player who can generate offense, beat defenders 1-on-1 and finish plays. He's a threat on the power play and projects as a prototypical power forward at the next

Yes he would be a solid pick. There's some decent WHL options mid round. Kindel, Bear, Cootes, Reschny etc. I don't think McQueen or Mrtka fall that far but it's actually a solid showing for the league this year. Aside from McKenna, next year is gonna be really good from what I've been watching.

Didn't watch the Canucks, opted for game 2 of the Royals Chiefs instead. Thanks for the write up York.

I don't see why 800k of performance bonuses should hang up a prospect of this quality getting signed. Hope to see this deal done ASAP

Very good choice, don't see him falling to us at 15 though. I'd like them to take Carter Bear, good balanced center with solid upside. Can score and gets dirty too, which would be nice to have more of!

Currently ranked 14 NA skater on the last (Today) Central Scouting report, so not out of the realm of possibility that he is there. But do the Canucks take a Canadian kid from Kelowna is more the question. With his size and skating ability, he is my pick down the middle.

pretty sure he's only played wing, is center a posiibility?

I like him too. I just have seen Bear a few times now, very interesting combo of scoring, tenacious forechecking and physicality. He's also much more likely to be there at 15, Lakovic is in a lot of top-10's right now.

Moral victory? Haven't the Sharks lost 10 in a row? More like they barely avoided an embarrassing defeat.

I don’t follow the draft choices like a lot of guys here, but there are 2 defenceman before Lakovic, Jackson Smith and Logan Hensley, both big boys, maybe Reuby will chime in with his thoughts, he follows draft eligible pretty closely.

Flames shouldn’t even be close to the mighty Canucks, but hard working teams find a way to win. You could be totally correct with your predictions but until they’re eliminated it’s Go Flames Go!
Ps go Utah!
Go Ducks!

Lose 5-0 nothing, at home, to the Kings and still in here chirping.
That’s a mighty looking defence the oilers iced last night……mighty useless! Let’s not even bring up the goaltending.
