Ill be interested in FSG's decision making. Their last two Liverpool manager hires were Klopp, who went on to become one of the best coaches in this era, and Slot who just won the Premier League in his first season.

Probably all of it since he's the GM.

I was thinking about just that… the only thing I’ll point out is that Mighty Red was poised to win and Pens are far from that…

Do y'all think Sullivan would have any interest coming to a Blackhawks team with a bunch of kids and a crap ton of money to spend on a FA or two (not to mention a bunch of high draft picks in their pockets)?

The Hawks have a bunch of highly touted D-men who've already started getting acclimated to the NHL, an above average goalie (Knight), Two young forwards who've shown very well in their initial NHL auditions (Bedard, and Nazar) a load of forward prospects coming, and vets like Teuvo, Mikheyev, Donato(likely), Richardinson, who all play a responsible two way game.

For sure it's not the best situation, but at least they are ascending, and don't have any cap issues to deal with.

Do the Blackhawks need to "just play"? If so, Sully's your guy.

I could see a darkhorse team being Montreal. They have a lot of the pieces, they just need to turn it into a contending group.

This year is a good first step, but if Washington wins in 5, would Montreal consider moving on from St. Louis as coach?

Hey fellas. I had thought Drury might even trade for Sully. I’d be surprised if he isn’t named some time this week as next NYR HC. Drury wants him. Chris Drury always gets what he wants, as we know

Doubt it. It's not like they were a shoe in for the playoffs in the first place....and MSL is a good o'le French Canadian boy. Doubt he gets axed when they bow out in first round.

I wonder if the Pens will promote Macdonald from Wilkes? A Sully redux. Hire the guy who knows the players on the horizon. I doubt it with the core still in place. Going to want an experienced guy. Not to mention Wilkes flamed out in the first round again.

i think this is a scenario like vancouver. the team doesnt want to get in his way if he really doesnt want to be with the team. david carle would be a nice hire. although tocchet could be interesting (although i think he is philly bound). sully was an asst in NY so he knows the market. but there is an opening in boston too and he coached there previously. it may become a bidding war.

i did think drury would trade for sully though but maybe he wants a chance to talk to both boston and NY.

In a results driven ‘business’ sully was able to hang around much longer than he should have. Finally someone (Dubas) ran out of patience / ‘16-17 bias & fired him.

Knowing that the Rangers were interested, wonder why they didnt attempt to trade Sully to NYR for something?

Sheldon Keefe next Pens coach? Certainly has ties to Dubas

I’m curious as to what the demands that lead to this divorce was. I’m hoping that the difference in views involved the bottom half of the roster with Sullivan wanting his veterans and Dubas deciding it’s time to stop adding crappy vets to the bottom 6 and let young guys sink or swim since we’re not contenders
