Dee Karl: Isles Take Manhattan (hopefully) Okay, Let's get this started.

There are a number of important reasons for a win tonight. And I have to hope the boys in blue and orange have come to the same conclusions...

1) Its the Rangers. That alone should spell M-U-S-T W-I-N!

2) The Islanders got help last night as Tampa and Montreal lost, keeping them in shouting distance, and the Canes lost. A win tonight brings the Isles to 30 points tying them with Tampa, and putting them 6 pts out of the 8 spot. It also puts 4 pts distance between them and the Canes.

3) Its a statement game. 3 wins in a row, 6 of 6 pts on the road.

4) Its an "HBO" like last year and the Isles can make the point of blowing out a few candles on the Rangers cake which is always nice.

Overall, the Isles are trying to climb back into the playoff pack. A win tonight gets that job a little closer to being a done deal. Lose, and it makes it a longer haul.

Dee, just as an FYI, but without Henrik this year, the Rangers are 6-1-0, and Martin Biron has a GAA of 1.82 with one shutout.

That being said, Henrik is the best goalie in the world, there is no doubt.

I can't believe the play that caused Dipietro's latest injury, it's unbelievable he got hurt just moving from one side of the crease to the other. don't even know what to say, feel bad for you guys.

Please dont remind us of the worst Islander in the world. He has to be the worst while you have the best. Oh well so is life in Islander country. Here is to a great game. With hopefully some how some way the Islanders with a W. I am figuring you guys already have a lot of points in the standing so handing us two will not be a big deal plus just think about both teams in the playoffs playing each other you guys can destroy us and then think of the bragging rights. Just a thought though

Yeah he has been plying lately and so has our first line, but Gaborik kills us and if we can contain him I think we will be ok. Oh a question is Avery playing? HAs he been playing since Rupp came back?

Avery is not playing thankfully.

It's a very annoying debate amongst Ranger fans. And I am one of the more militant fans on the side of please get rid of him.

another blog i just couldnt focus on.. i literally foggged in and out of conciousness,there was something about christmas shopping and dinner i think.
I think we put much more stock into must wins against the rangers then they do against us ... unfortunately king henry is twice the goalie rdp will ever be ... This team has a staleness around it.. there is no buzz around the islanders no big name coach no big name g.m and many pieces being missed on the team.
Its sad to see how far this once proud franchise has fallen.It just never gets better and it never changes ...a crap gm a crap coach and a crap blogger consumed with kitchen duties

Yeah I know there is a mix there. I was wondering cause I felt he was not playing that bad to be honest. I guess it is only time then until he is sent down again but then he has to go through waivers/. Even though I doubt any team is stupid enough to sign him you have no problem. (Even though the Islanders are out there and usually do things that make no sense)

One more thing is kindlyrick around? I mean if I have to hear about his love fest with Butchie again I am going to hurl
