Phaneuf is 6th among defenseman in points with 28. Wideman is 5th with 29, and weber and edler are tied for 3rd with 30. Phaneuf is having the best season of his career since the 2007-2008 season with calgary when he made the all-star team.

a legitimate argument can be made that Moulson deserves to be there over Ovechkin. He has more points and is a plus player. Alex shouldn't be there this year and people close to that team says he doesn't care. I was in LA for the Kings/Caps game monday night and Alex showed basically no heart nor did his team.

No Moulson would not have twenty but 12-15 goals is not out of question. Moulson has good hands and can put the puck in the net. Him and PA deserve more credit. As for Okposo it maybe coincidental that hes scoring more now but if you watch him play he is significantly better. He never gives up on a play. It could just be confidence that he is now on the first line.

Moulson is 8th in the entire league in goals right now. I don't care what the reason is or who his center is, that's impressive for a player who doesn't possess blazing speed, a rocket of a shot, or have an imposing physical presence. The man just fills the back of the net. Doesn't matter if Tavares creates the space for him, he still has to get the puck by NHL goaltenders. People used to call it luck his first year with the deflections. Well, three straight years of this can no longer be simple luck. He is good at redirecting shots. He has a nose for the net. While other players are always in too close when the rebound pops out further way, or too far away when a rebound is available in close, Moulson is always right where he needs to be to score.

Similar to your argument, some people think that adding Milan Michalek to the all star game is a complete joke and its part of the reason the ASG is embarrassing... but Michalek is 4th in the league in goals with 22. For a guy who's career high is 26 goals, he's having a pretty impressive year as well.

By the way, I do agree that Moulson should be on this roster.

No one is saying Moulson over JT. But Moulson deserves to be there over others.
