All I wish for the next 7 games, is for a trend. Either win 5 or more, or lose 5 or more, nothing in between please |

Let's put a little perspective on this....
Looking back a few years you basically need 93 points to squeak into the eigth and final seed.
If we take that and look at the games MTL has remaining (26), with 55 points to date, they only need to win 19 of the 26 remaining games for a shot at the eigth seed.
.730 win percentage the rest of the way......if only 19 of those were against the leafs |

Montreal needs to implode and maximize it's position in a seller's market. They are too small, not talented enough, to make any in-roads. Bottom tier playoff teams, although more talented and better positioned, are not that much better than the Habs. This means that those teams are going to be caught in the detrimental positon of being buyers, and more than likely to overpay for players.
If PG has any brains, he'll take advantage of this situation in order to position his club for the long run. The Habs have very little outside of Price in terms of talent and prospects. They need to start building this base now and stop dreaming of immediate success.
The win over the Leafs last game was a bit of a mirage. Leafs could not have possibly played any worse than they did, yet still dominated the shot clock. Montreal needs to realize that this won't work against better clubs night in and night out. Price can't win every game, Hell, Price can't even play every game. |

Don't start. OT and shoot outs mean that this record is a "modern era" type of record. Very nice, but still not the same. |

You can't make a statement like this one when you obviously know very little about the subject. Also, the habs are no longer "too small" every line has 2 big bodies, granted those bodies are not all talented, but we are getting there. The habs are a better team then some team above them, including the leafs, of course that is my biased opinion. |

That's true. Hell, 1 more win and you're a .500 hockey team |

Steven Hindle: What 5 Wins in a Row Could Mean for the Habs...
- What 5 Wins in a Row Could Mean for the Habs... - hindlehabs
With each win just gets us less likelihood the Habs try to trade expiring contracts for picks, even though they will not make the playoffs. In fact, they will likely give up prospect / picks to add mid-level-type players.
Someone in the Habs brass evidently took a Leafs' School of Hockey Management 101 course. |

Look on the bright side Habs fans. We (leafs) were in the same boat with one huge exception/. We did not own our first round pick which as we all know were two top tens. At least if you guys bomb agian you own your own pick. It was awful facing this scenario with no top ten picks looming.. |

One question. Is your coach putting the worst line combinations together in the history of your team like ours is? The second a line generates some sort of chemistry it is broken up.
I seriously think the Sabres brass are pulling names from a hat for line. |

But of course they are. Didn't you hear the news, their coach doesn't speak French. Duh.

Great blog!
The Habs should still make some wise sales, regardless of playoff contention.
* Offload Kaberle at first opportunity.
* Get value for Gill and Moen.
* Make a decision on AK.
* Get what you can for Campoli and Darche.
Now about Gionta... what is the progress of his injury? I doubt he is due back before the 27th. I don't really see him as the future of this team. He is small and expensive, and aging. Ideally, we would move him to a playoff team looking for veteran leadership with a scoring touch. Since that is not possible, I would still try and move him in the off-season. |
