Not only is all the stuff in this article true, but they're starting to get the powerplay going. I think they've scored more on the powerplay in the last 5 games or so than the did all season before that. Dominant 5-on-5, Agressive penalty kill, the greatest goalie in the world AND a functional powerplay?

I killed you back in September for your assesment but even I couldn't have imagined they would be sitting on top of the conference standings by 7 points in mid Feb. They have been a TEAM, teamwork & team oriented play has them where they are. Hank has of course been the backstop but strong play in almost every area has been consistant all year & what else can you say about the coaching staff? Torts should win the Jack Adams hands down.

Kudos to you for eating crow Rob.

I missed that article earlier in the year - for this I am not sorry. You seem to know little of the sport of which you write and comment on..

Again, I ask, why are you featured on this site?? You give no insider information and provide little entertainment value.

Just saying

Who's overconfidant? Who gives a (frank) what us dopey fans think or say. Have you checked out this team lately? They are unbelievably professional, never taking an opponent lightly. Torts will not talk about anything other than the nights opponent. Hank & solid D + total commtment to the gameplan has equaled success & that's what wins in the playoffs.

On a side note, wouldn't it be nice if the Islanders ever made the playoffs again?

Seriously, things are so bad in Islander country you really should worry about your team & NOT those 1st place Rangers.

Besides your hatred, please give 1 good reason why you think the Rangers will be ousted rd 1? They have the goaltending, the defense, the system, the fore check, the shot blockers to grind out any opponent, that's what wins in the playoffs. They are ready, I'm not saying they are going to win the Cup but to just say they will get eliminated rd 1 really sounds silly Mick.

I would love a 1st rd Rangers/Isles matchup & not just cause I think we would kick their ass but it would bring some more attention to hockey around NY & maybe, just maybe a little less LIN-sanity.

It has nothing to do with my hatred for the Rangers. How long have we been on here? You know I'm not the trolling type. I just have a feeling that's all. Hockey playoffs are insane and crazy things happen all the time. You act like 1 seeds have not gotten bounced in the first rd?? Odds are you'll advance past the first rd but you know as well as I do, you run into a hot team or hot goalie peeking at the right time and that can be the difference. Don't get all defensive because I don't think they will win the cup this year. Rangers are playing awesome right now and to be honest it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Like you said earlier I have enough on my plate being an Islander fan. I don't have time to worry about the Rangers Either way good luck in April

Its sad really that the Rangers right now are probably the best team in the NHL and you would think no such team existed here in NY. A bad knicks team would still get more coverage then any good hockey team would

The Lin story is a good one, but its been 7 games, lets wait & see what happens when other teams figure the kid out & game plan for him better. I just hate basketball as it is, so this whole Knicks rejuvination thing drives me nuts...especially when the other team in the building has been far better for longer this season.

Oh well & from your other post, I'm not all defensive, its just funny to see an Islander fan try to poo poo the Rangers success thus far. If this was your team I think more than a few of you guys would be waving the pom poms.

Ya see that's the thing I don't understand. You think because I'm an Islander fan I'm poo pooing the Rangers and I'm not. I've said many times you guys are playing great and you deserve to be waving those pom poms all over the place. I just said I have a feeling they will get bounced in the 1st rd. If I was a fan of a different team would you still think the way you do? I'm not sitting here saying you guys are lucky and you guys suck blah blah. That's not my style. Will I be rooting for the Rangers come playoffs? No way but I still respect them and think they have been playing great. Its all good brother

Hank on a BAD team could single handedly win a playoff series against a number 8 seed.

Hank on this good Rangers squad is going to coast through the first round.

Pretending to shoot the other teams goalie... really professional. That team better pray some "fantasy camp" player doesn't get the bright idea to run Hank. He goes down, that team crashes and burns. The all world goalie covers every single blemish that team has.

Someone piss in your coffee this morning? Or is it the fact, no matter what venue the Flyers and Rangers meet, the end result stays the same?

The Rangers only blemish is that they lack a little offense. They work hard, they are coached well, the team defense is top notch and they all play as a team.

Yes Lundqvist is the best player on the Rangers but that is not something the Rangers or their fans should apologize for.

The fact that you would suggest an ECHL'er like Sestito would intentionally run Lundqvist just goes to show little hope you have for your own team's chances this season.

I know it's a foreign concept for a Flyers fan to figure out, the goalie being their best player. Maybe Holgrem and Co. will get it right one day and make a concerted effort to actually draft a good goaltender and good defense.

I wouldn't count on that though.
