Scott Cullen and Kevin McGran retweeted a fake rumour yesterday (Hemsky for Ellis+). They actually thought it was real

I find it comical that someone has to post something like this to warn people not to believe bogus junk they see on the internet. People need to use their heads once in a while.

So very true but I'm tired of people using a journalists' good name to try and promote fake rumors. It's disgusting

I highly doubt it. Franchises want to stray away from rumors and speculation; there is no way someone would get inside information for a particular team. Leave it to the third party insiders. Sportsnet(Kypreos) Tsn(Dreger/Mackenzie) etc. Basically what I'm saying is no teams have hired insiders - these people are self-proclaimed. The people who do specialize in teams just tell us facts and are named. Hence, Jonas Seigal does the Leafs, not "TMLinsider". Also, people like Jonas do not speculate - they just give us facts (line up changes, injuries or starting goalies)

I'm glad there's someone out there making sure we get legitimate rumor information and not garbage like you mentioned in your article (Duchene, Landeskog for Datsyuk etc.) I'm pretty sure all the ones I follow are the real people so I should be safe, it will be funny to see if rumors start blowing up that don't make any sense and people buy what the fake accounts are saying
