I still shake my head at the Fran Kucera deal. "This is the defenseman we have needed".
Too bad this year I wont be hanging on every moment of the coverage...freaking changing it from Tuesday to Monday...but I always love to see and hear the talking heads prognosticate about the moves...most of them are there to prognosticate because they blew moves at the deadline, draft or just about any other chance they had to make a move... |

It will be hard to top in terms of excitement/fear/anticipation the trades of Carter/Richards in about an hour of each other. We drastically changed the face and direction of the team.....
I do remember being furious over the infamous Adam Oates deal. |

I hated that trade(understood it, but hated it). I hated the Upshall & a 2nd for Carcillo trade. I hated the Niinimaa for Dan McGillis trade, too. |

I think Pennsylvania might be quiet on the trade front today. |

I hope the Eastern side is, at least. If the Pens get Sid back, they don't really need a trade. |

If the Pens think Sid is coming back they won't be able to really make a trade. All of his cap space that has been created from LTIR disappears when he returns to the lineup.
The only real telling sign from today for the Penguins would be if they make a big move that involves taking on salary, that would be admitting that they don't think 87 is coming back.
There really is not much for either team to do except be healthy and peak at the right time this year. |

That's true. If the Pens do make a move that adds salary, it's probably writing off Crosby.
I worry because the Flyers tend to be aggressive...not sure there's a deal out there that makes sense. With the tight races and the cap, you can't have teams that are obviously dead in the water sell off everyone and go under the cap cellar |

Sad to say I think the Pens and the Flyers both lost their captains this year...

I think Sid will be OK long term, but Pronger is my favorite defensemen and I have been pretty bummed out about what has transpired with him. He should probably walk away from the game given the severity of his symptoms, his age, and the fact the is LITERALLY nothing left to prove. |

Penguins (specifically Malkin) just might have ended his NHL career. |

I couldn't believe BC threw so much into the pot for Oates. MO a second and a late round pick would have been as much as I would have given up. |

A 2nd and a late round pick for a guy who led the NHL in assists at the time of the trade? |
