1st... With that out of the way I hope he does. Take a close look at the standings. If the Leafs continue in March like they did in Feb we can easily end up with a top 5 pick. Hopefully get a young big Center who could eventually become our #1. And if the Leafs fail that bad I don't believe even BB can keep RW asthe coach. He could bring him to the front office but not behind the bench. Then BB will have the summer to find a better fit for the coach and staff. So leave RW right there until the season ends.

of course he will. Anyone who has payed attention to the leafs during the last year would know how burke feels and how stubborn he is.

Eakins should finish the year with the Marlies and take a run at the Calder Cup. Let him guide our prospects through a valuable playoff experience instead of trying to worsen our draft ranking with the big club. Also, Vancouver wanted to get tougher up front so the Leafs weren't a good trading partner for Hodgson.

Why do you assume that Hodgson was available to the Leafs - bad blood or no bad blood? Vancouver was looking for a very specific kind of player and last time I looked I didn't see any Kassians on our team or very close to making our team.

If anything, the right question is whether we missed out on Kassian. Vancouver paid a high price for the kid and I'm sure it would have cost way more if he was just heading up the QEW

Burke gave Wilson his golden parachute for Christmas. If the Leafs fail to make the playoffs, Wilson will be let go and will still have the security of being paid for four more years. The biggest question when Wilson is let go, is who is available that is guaranteed to get better results? Randy Carlyle is a 50-50 bet, and most of the other options are crap shoots with little or no NHL coaching experience. Would Leaf fans be more accepting if Burke went to old Ballard trick of hiring a guy like Mike Nykoluk (sp?), or would we just cry foul at that too?

Exactly they wanted a young power forward and paid the price, we want a young power forward and paid the price. (Ashton)

Burke and Wilson are both way too arrogant to sort their poop out. Defense is the biggest problem, and Burke thinks it's their strongest asset? I'd be a nervous goalie playing behind that D. Bringing Eakins now might be even worse long term for the Leafs. You rob the Marlies of their coach at crunch time, and maybe you sort out the Leafs season just enough to get them into the playoffs, where they get demolished and lose all confidence. I say leave Wilson in there, let them slide to a lottery pick, fire Wilson in the off season, tweak your D, get rid of the "monster", find a veteran mentor for Reimer, and get Burke the (frank) out of here in a year or two if there's still no change.

1) Burke won't change his philiosphy about coaches. Wilson remains all season long and will be let go in the off season. I think its a better and more respectful move anyways.

2) I don't believe the leafs ever had a shot at Hodgson, at least not for what is rumoured. I'd file it under the old "Leafs are in on everybody" spin we all here on a daily basis. A Kassian isn't available on the Leafs, or many teams for that matter, and thats the player they were looking for.

no point in firing wilson now.....let the ship go down as low as it can.
start fresh after the season is over.
eakins can go for the calder, with both he and carlyle available in the summer.

as for hodgson, burke has nothing remotely close to kassian-and yes, that includes the slow-footed schenn.

burke could have had several firsts for macarthur, grabovski, reimer, schenn......he must still believe he has the core to win it all.......i think many would disagree.
