1. Stay away from the penalty box.
2. Need a goalie to show up
3. Need their banged up defense to play better while at the same time the forwards need to back check harder.
4. Use their team speed and depth (should be improved by swapping Rinadlo for JVR)
5. Survive the first 10 minutes
For the Pens to win..
1. Stay away from the penalty box.
2. MAF plays a strong complete game.
3. Need their banged up defense to play better while at the same time the forwards need to back check harder.
4. Malkin , Crosby and Neal need to come out flying which I am sure they will.
5. Not come out too insane in in the first 10 minutes.
FLyers Injury report as far as I understand it.
1. Grossmann: Out suspected concussion
2. Bryz: Reovering from chip fracture in foot and possible hip injury
3. Briere: Possible reoccurance of back issues (UGH)
4. JVR: game time decision recovering from foot surgery in March.

Good luck Pens and Lets go Flyers! - opeth_pa
I think the Flyers need to play with piss and vinegar. The made it way to easy for the Pens last game. You will not throw the Pens off their game by letting them skate around you. It is clear the NHL addressed both teams and told them any monkey business and suspensions will come. The Flyers backed off too far. They will lose unless they get the Pens riled again.

Here's hoping a few of them will actually PLAY defense tonight. I know the Pens won on Wednesday but the D play was rather sketchy. Poor decisions, missed stick checks, flubbed d to d passes.

interesting.
Not that it matters from the forward perspective. Crosby, Malkin, or Staal will be on the ice every shift, even if it is with the 4th line wingers. No chance that one of them isn't out there every time the forwards go over the boards.
Scoring first tonight is huge for the Pens. It's going to be mportant to play with a lead and keep the crowd into the game.

On Wednesday? What game were you watching? - Rawdog9755
The D play in the first period was terrible. I know the Flyers had 5 powerplays but even the simple plays-- d to d passes, reverses off the boards were suspect.
My point is, I suppose, the Pens have NO margin for error- all aspects of their game need to be tight and there is room for improvement among this D group.

Take away the PPs and a team that had surrendered 16 goals in 2 games only allowed 1. Ill take that performance everyday of the week, and they def did a way better job on simple clearing plays to get the puck out of the zone. Considering how they played in the first 3 games, i think it is nitpicking to go after a vastly improved performance in game 4.

might be nitpicking... but as I said there is no room for error--
decent minds can watch the same game and come to differing conclusions-- it was an improvement from the previous three games-- let's hope the trend continues-- another 10 goal outburst won't hurt either
its such a shame they were down 3 0 before this stuff had to get worked out of them. obviously its the playoffs and if you need 3 games to realize to wake the hell up you dont deserve it, but i feel as though they are definitely headed in the right direction. not even because of the 10 goal outburst, but the simple things like fairly decent defense, and other than the one goal from timonen, fleury played very well. grossman potentially being out could be huge as well. he has been a tank for them this series.

There were still plenty of defensive lapses in that game. The two things the Pens did that they hadn't done previously had little to do with their shaky D and MAF's adventures in net. They pushed back to take a lead then got the backbreaking goal they couldn't get in game 1 (Staal hit the post late in the 3rd) and game 2 (when Letang decided not to shoot the puck until Bryz got in the way). Hopefully they can do the same tonight--with a better defensive presence and some timely saves.

The glove save on Letang has been the turning point, if that goes in, Pens are up 4-1 and it is a different story..
It has been done before, and it will be done again.
A team this year could come back from down 3-0. One game at a time, you can't win 3 games in one night.
But, the Halifax Moose just put out Patty Roy's team in the Q after being down 3-0 and the Pens have the team to do it as well. - bixll
The Pens mindset shouldn't be that they're coming back from 3 - 0 ... in fact, they need to come back from 3 - 1. Lots of teams have done exactly that.
As far as the game goes, I can think of only ONE result that will surprise us all. Only ONE result will get us to say "how the hell did THAT happen?"
