Queens is the best spot if the Isles leave Nassau. Belmont or Willets point next to Citi field would be great. I don't want them to leave nassau but the way the politicans have treated Wang n the Isles I almost want them out to shove it up the politicans A$$ES and leave. |

Brooklyn is not the option either but yes, its a start. Many other Isles fans including myself live out east and wouldnt make the trip for an average game that I would normally go to. For the rivalry games its a different story, I think I would still plan a trip here and there for the Rags / Penns games for example.
Between the town and the county, no one cares, it has shown all over.. wang should pack it up and move on, that whole area if it wasnt for the univ. etc would look like Detroit... its a matter of time. You cant say Mr Wang didnt try. |

Well at least we all know that Wang could have used his own money to build a new coliseum but he refused. That's the problem. Maybe that's what politicians felt in long island that they knew he could afford it himself. Why waste their time? |

Wow so beyond reality....Wang offered to put his money on the table with the Lighthouse project, an arena alone in this market with only 1 team isn't going to make any money in fact, the Kate Murray plan proved to be totally inept for profit. Wang wanted the Lighthouse, yes the Lighthouse, a project that reflected profitability. And I'm sure Wang is not taking hundreds of millions to build something on land he doesn't own. Nassau County should sell it all to him for $1, then he owns it, he builds. |

I agree...Queens is a good option for them. I've read a few years back that they were thinking of putting a roof on Arthur Ashe Stadium (were they play the US Open) and maybe the Islanders could play there. This could be one of the places Bettman was talking about. I don't follow tennis much but it seems the stadium sits empty except for the two weeks around Labor Day (a month before hockey season)...they have a plan for $300 million in renovations (without a roof) but need funding. Remember plans can be changed. Here is the link:

It seems like a perfect spot...there is mass transportation...it would cost probably only half of what a new arena would cost. They probably could move there in two years and I don't think the politics would be very much since you are renovating an existing venue. I live in NJ and I would probably buy season tickets again if they moved there... |

I hope they work out a deal in Nassau still but the more time passes the more unlikely they stay their. That being said Queens would be the next best thing for the Isles if not the best and I think the fan base will grow if they go their. |

If Wang has to pay the whole thing the county should not get a dime. While I'm not happy with Wang it's a shame Nassau County has so many crooks as Politicans they could have easiler afforded a new building along with fixing up the whole area. |

Nassau is f'in broke.. they have to get some coin.. a whole lot of coin.
You have to remember they are closing police departments because they have no cash, roadways look like jizsaw puzzles because they cant afford to repave, The county has been mismanaged so badly you would think Mike Milbury was in charge of that too!
Ultimately if it gets built in Uniondale, Nassau is going to have to make a mint off of this... they have to.

And the people keep voting the same idiots in. How did Kate Murray win again? The Isles should no have to suffer the mess of Nassau County any longer. It's time for Brooklyn or Queens. |

He could have, and he wanted to. Unfortunately, Hempstead was not willing to allow him to develop the land around it, in order that he might bring in the revenue necessary to fund the project. This isn't charity, folks. A businessman has to make some money. That's how the game called "free enterprise" is played.
An arena is a highly risky proposition- there are many factors that can potentially sabotage profitability. In order for a businessman to be willing to front the cash, if you will, there have to be certain assurances that it won't simply amount to flushing it down the crapper. The Town of Hempstead wanted to have their cake and eat it, too- to have him build them an arena, out of the simple goodness of his heart. Sorry, but I don't consider HIM to be "selfish" for blowing that off. |

I don't accuse Wang of anything. God knows that he helped Islanders to stay here for another decade. I am aware of that. The blame is on Nassau Country that they always find something to prevent that from happening. I think the best option is to build a coliseum next to Citifield. I am a diehard Yankees fan but I love the idea of Islanders next to Citifield. It is perfect for Islanders fans. Let's go Islanders.
Can we just trade for someone good? |

I was wondering why everyone was saying that Ness will be with the Islanders next season. The only defenseman that is NHL ready at Bridgeport seems to be Matt Donovan. |

I don't know why with ever person who gets a pension it should be a set amount. The county, state, and government would be better off |
