Brian Huddle: With the 30th Pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Columbus (via LA) selects...

So, for those keeping notes at home, the Jackets finish dead last and get the first overall pick (who is clearly Yakupov). Oh wait, no, they lose the draft lottery and pick 2nd. Then they trade the enigmatic Jeff Carter for Jack Johnson and a 1st. Since the Kings will be lucky to even make the playoffs, this looks like an easy top 20 pick. Poof, Kings dominate the playoffs and could easily win it all, giving the Jackets the 30th pick.

The Jackets are cursed. Failure grows strong with this franchise...

Well I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate drafting goalies this early. The waiver system prevents goalies from getting the proper development IMO.

Plus I'm thinking about Malcolm X and Malcolm in the middle.

I just don't like it, had an issue with JDD and DD here in Edmonton. Granted part of the issue with JDD was lack of farm team early on, but when his waivers kicked in instead of sending him to the farm where he could continue to grow or dominate we ended up keeping him up in the NHL. I believe DD was in a similar position for us.

He's the reason they could take the pick this year. They have up until two picks before LA's to decide, so if Subban is still there, they can take the pick for him.
