Wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with a concussion. Grossmann got hit a number of times, and even though the knee injury was real, I'd say that the real injury came from a concussion and the team/player wanted to play in the playoffs regardless of health.

Possibly. But I can only go with the known and available facts. There's a lot about the situation that could be inferred if you read between the lines here.

I would hope that the Fleys and Grossmann are on the same page regardless of what's divulged to the media.
I would hate to hear that the Flyers were pressuring Grossmann to play when he wasn't ready or pushing him to not have surgery. If he can't have surgery because he is still having concussion symptoms then I find it worrisome that he played against the Devils.

I think we will see more surgeries announced after the more thorough examinations and perhaps seeing how rest affects some of the guys who were hurting.

We've all seen doctors advise rest & rehab rather than immediate surgery on some injuries, and perhaps that's the case with Grossmann and others.

Still a non-answer but at least it's not a cryptic middle ground between a denial and saying "read between the lines here" on something no will ever admit anyway.

Holmgren does like to keep his cards close to the vest. Who knows maybe he feels that Grossmann's status being up in the air gives him a leg up in the trade market, perhaps thinking that if other GM's know Grossmann is facing surgery or an uncertain recovery that they will demand more.

That's a half-hearted attempt to play Devil's advocate. Unless it's a career threatening situation I see zero reason to be so cagey about the report and it's release
