Jagr will be missed...but his 4.5 from the stars is too high for him...all the best to him in Dallas.
I think the Flyers will be entering tomorrow missing out on Both Parise and Suter.....They seriously need to just bite the bullet and make a trade for Weber and call it a day.
In a no cap world, it'd have been nice to get Jagr back for one more year, unless he really is incapable of putting together a relatively healthy season/playoffs at his age. He mentioned changing his training program to avoid injury no? It'll be interesting to see how this year turns out for him.
But, it also opens up a big opportunity for someone else to get that right wing spot along side Giroux.

I really do hope we have other options in place besides Doan, who I believe truly wants to stay in Pheonix, and I expect Ryan to cost at the very least Jake and a 1st. Any possibility Evander Kane could be had for cheaper than that?

If Ryan was ONLY Voracek and a 1st I'm pretty sure the Flyers would jump on that in a Philly second. I know you did say "at the very least".
Good for Jagr. That kind of cash...no way the Flyers could go that high for him. Dallas has a really solid looking top six, at least on paper.
I'm fairly comfortable with the Flyers, both up front and on defense. They have a solid top 6 in Timonen, Coburn, Meszaros, Grossmann, Schenn and Lilja. Gus, MAB and Syvret should be able to step in as third pair guys, at least for short term.
Up front, I think that Giroux, Hartnell, Briere, Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek, Read and Couturier are all capable of scoring close to, or over 20 goals. The key is avoiding sophomore slumps and back sliding by the guys with two or three years in the league.
With a few tweaks, they could have a very good, competitive team

i'd say he would be more expensive. just a guess though

How unusual would it be to have the Flyers having ecess cap space at the trading deadline to make a deal? I have a feeling that they will not et Parise, Suter or Doan. I hope they don't overpay for Nash or Ryan. Who else is out there?

I would think it would cost the Schenn's X2 plus Cooter and one of his siblings to get both. - Glak18
WPG needs a top center and has since the days of the thrashers so, I think you could be looking at an initial offer of schenn x 2 + cousins and a pick and that could escalate to Laughton and a 1st, but that's obvi just extreme speculation.

Parise, Semin, Doan and then there's a huge fall off as far as free agent right wingers go.

There's always other options. The problem is, the market is held up by Suter and Parise. As soon as they are gone other moves will happen. Look at Carle. If Suter signs in Minnesota, I'd bet that he becomes more popular than a loose woman at a sex addicts convention.
Same goes for PArise in terms of trades. If the Pens, Flyers and Hawks know they can't get him, they'll likely be more interested in Nash, Ryan and Doan.

Nada. If they lose out on Suter, and Parise (which they will) both guys are going to sign with Minnesota today, they will overpay Carle, or give up a King's ransom for Bobby Ryan.
If they are intent on overpaying someone I would prefer it to be Parise, or Suter. At least get close to an elite talent for the money.
As it stands right now, there isn't a replacement for Jagr, or JVR, and the blueline lacks a puck mover. There isn't any guarantee Timonen starts the season. The defense core may start the season with two of Lilja, MAB, and Gustafsson in the lineup.

Langenbrunner? Maaybe. Probably not.
EDIT: Take a chance on Mueller? High risk, high reward. - Glak18
With our lineup Langenbrunner is at best a 3rd liner these days. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in for that role tho. He made 2.75 last year. I'd like him at 2.5. Might be a good signing to make if Homer really wants Parise. Couldn't hurt.

at these prices, I would back out on parise & start making a move for a forward now

I think Kane could be had in the right deal...just wish we hadn't made the JVR trade because he was the more valuable commodity. nice to be covered somewhat on d though.

Confirming what most know by now, Zach Parise will sign this afternoon....continues to iron out contract details #NHL

Still gonna have to wait for the big pieces to fall. FA's are waiting for all the suitors to be freed from Parise and Suter, and also to have the market to be set.
As far as trades, I'm sure Anaheim and Columbus want to wait until the Suter and Parise situations are settled, and get as many teams as possible bidding.

They have options, just a matter of how much they spend/move to do it.
