The players can't blame the coach this time, or will they? Will we see Babcock behind the bench in September? It's time to blow this team up as sometimes good players don't mesh to become a good team. |

I think Krueger took a look at his team and decided he'd win more doubling down on the defensive structure than betting on the offense.
Until they add some depth up front and at minimum a solid back up, he's probably right unfortunately. |

I hope.
And he’d obviously be overpaid even with those #’s. But it is what it is. Botterill took a chance and got him for peanuts and then the Perfect Storm happened. He went and had a career year while playing on Jacks line.
It was a no-win situation for Bott’s. Skinner was gonna get his money from someone. If Bott’s let him walk the entire fan base (including all the closet GM’s on this board) would have killed him because the team lacked goal scorers so badly. And it was always going to be a contract he could NEVER live up too. (Think Brad Richards going from Dallas to NYR).
Now we’re stuck with an overpaid under-performing winger. Our only hope now is that the GM can find a play-making Center that can feed him the puck and get him back to being a 30/60 guy.
In 2-3 years his contract will look more reasonable with Cap increases, assuming he’s putting up 30/60.
As Sabres fans that’s the best-case scenario we can really hope for. - Pairo11
the problem with Jeff is that he's been all over the map his entire career. His 7.8% shooting percentage this year is actually closer to his career average than the 14.9% he posted last season.
He's always got it done on shear volume, and he's not getting that volume this season.
he's the very definition of a one-way player, and unfortunately that one way isn't working well this season. He's a good player, but he's also a 28 year old with a career high of 63 points. |

His individual expected goals for is higher this year.
His most common line mates are still:
Johansson
Sobotka
Rodrigues
Sheary
Krueger doesn't want to break up his shut down line, but Larsson and Skinner complemented each other well and I bet Skinner's numbers would look a lot better.
Even so, his goals/60 at 5v5 is at 1.1 despite the cold streak. He was 1.34 last year |

But pay structure should physically make him produce more

Good reed: I realize you need to write to the audience, but ...........
Interesting take on the 2nd goal. Risto's fault?
At least he was trying. No mention of the "other guy" not backchecking?

I think people see skinner and 9 million and expect him to drive his own line. When in reality, He can’t
Skinner is a very good robin. He needs his Batman to lead and carry the play (eichel)
If robin doesn’t have Batman, he is ineffective.
Basically skinner is a good sidekick and not a good main guy |

that's fine, but it's still a results business and it's absolutely not enough from a guy making $9 million.

I never write to the audience, it's the easiest way to piss off the audience i find.
Reinhart was on a 2 minute shift, he probably wouldn't catch dylan larkin if he was fresh.
Either event it's my belief that he should take the pass. |

Unfortunately, we Sabre fans will continue to suffer for the near future. GMBotts has the owners trust. He recently stated you win by drafting talent in the later rounds to augment your cant miss prospects. That means continue to off load boaderline nhl talent soon to be free agents for draft picks at the deadline. Botts was the cap specialist in Pittsburgh when they won two cups recently. Look what the Bills have done under the same ownership. They were in cap hell with a top heavy roster that couldn't get over the hump. I agree, ten years of rebuilding has soured the fanbase tremendously. Mittelstadt, UPL, Couzens, Samuelsson are all on the cusp of NHL. This team will be deep, and they will start winning, I just wish it happened three years ago.
I believe Ristolainen will fetch a top six player at the deadline, and more draft picks for the other UFAs. |
