I am going to say that Henrik plays no more games rest of the season unless he comes in for mop up duty in a game Georgiev gets pulled.

I think Hank is done.

A lot of people took notice on twitter that the New York Rangers official twitter did not wish Hank a happy birthday yesterday.

Doesn't really seem like a big deal until you see that every single player they always acknowledge their birthdays without fail.

Even Lias Andersson got a happy birthday.

Tonight's game is why it was such a bad thing we couldn't split the home and home with the Flyers. I had this game penciled in as a loss. I just hope that we have regrouped and come out better.

A game against the defending champs is always a litmus test.

Really was inexcusable by the team. The guy is on the mount rushmore of Ranger players, even if he played goalie by 2 guys holding up strings weekend at Bernie's style, wish the greatest goalie in your team's a happy birthday. At this point, I almost expect the team to take Hank behind the arena Old Yeller style.

I think the only positive is that the best period of hockey they played in those two losses was the third period sunday afternoon, hopefully they can build on it.

They reportedly have not wished him a happy birthday for the last three what’s, so this isn’t new.

lets get back to winning ..last 2 stanley cup teams & resurging Devils palying hard are coming to us this week ..
Need a great game from the team so it knows it can play with out Krieds..fast start is important, this week will settle us or break us ....get ready ,every game is critical ...
love it so much ,I think we find a way to win tonite ...

HANK : was a 1 shot try (somewhat a desperation move ) from D Q to see if he could muster up a magnificent performance and carry team 1 last time ....
SOrry no cigar on that front , he will be bought out & come back to celebrate his stellar career with NYR

17 left ; 11- 6 get s to 96 pts .... L G R

HANk & SHkjei $$ coming off will allow NYR to sign all the RFA's outined needed & Fast IF they choose to ....

i still say trading a Pick or prospect & Buchny for a true top 6 fwd should happen this summer

If Hank retires I can actually see this happening. Though I think it would be more the pick + prospect and not Buch

Isn’t he getting less then 8.5? The cap hit is 8.5 but he’s not getting paid that much I believe

welp, just to be accurate, the cap hit is 8.5 million, however...

his salary next year is 5.5 million

1 million signing bonus July 1st

4.5 mil base salary

I see him waiving instead of retiring. I think we would’ve heard rumblings of retirement by now

Then you have to figure it’ll be one of those trades where we have to give up an asset with him probably, and keep half the hit. As bad as that sounds, theyd have to do it

I still think there is a chance after the signing bonus we could trade him even at 50% retained. If Carolina or Colorado get bounced early because of goaltending, they will be desperate.

Either way, trading Skeji solved alot of financial problems for next year. It almost makes locking up ADA sorta free. If we have to ride out one year of hank on the cap, we are much better prepared to do it if necessary.

well that really doesn't make sense though because giving up an asset to get another team to take on a 4.25 mil cap hit, we could just buy him out , not give up anything and have a 5 million cap hit

And honestly Hank buyout won't save us anything in the end. A big portion of that 3 million savings will go right towards Georgiev so the cap will net to about the same.

I am gonna to keep holding out hope that he'll come to his senses and realize that he should retire after this current season

It could make sense though. If the team buys him out, the hit remains on the cap for two years. You trade him retained, it's still only next year. You have to lock up Lindgren, Chytil, Buch, and Shesty after next season. You better start preparing for the future now.

I can see trading him retained, but not giving up an asset and trading him retained, that would be crazy.

My feeling is that he takes a long look over the summer and ultimately retires before the season starts. I'd be surprised if he retires before the draft.

I’m not really worried about a Chytil or Lindgren contract. How much are they going to cost? Can’t see either of them getting over 3mil, barring a monster season next year.

It depends what the asset is honestly. I wouldn't give up a 1st or 2nd, but giving up a mid asset to make sure we have extra room to lock up guys is worth it for sure.

I know we are counting on this treasure trove of cap space. I'm not going to argue that we will be crunched, but I'm not sure this treasure trove is going to go quite as far as we think. I've mentioned the 4 we have to lock up after next year, and Shesty could cost a pretty penny. How much in two years do we think Fox will cost to lock up? What if Kakko breaks out next year? If Hank won't retire or waive his NMC, I'm all for just sitting on him for a year instead of buying him out unless you have a specific target you want to acquire this offseason.
