Hey Zach meant to give you props on the blog on Reichel the other day. Thought it was a sound approach and well written.
Still hoping he finds his game in RFD and is a contributor down the road, as in next year and beyond. |

Unlike some other uniform numbers, 7 has seen a number of good to great players wear it at one time (Hull and Espo) or for the majority/entirety) of their career as a Hawk (Martin, Chelios, Seabrook).
Hopefully Seabrook’s name is added to that banner some day. |

This may not play well here, but Chelios #7 should not go up in the rafters, frank him. That #7 should be reserved for one Mr. Seabrook. Just my $0.02… |

Seabrook would be my choice.
I don’t think any sweater should be retired. Except in one or two situations. Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, etc.. Honour the player sure but don’t retire numbers except for the a superstar.

Retiring jerseys is silly. They should just put the name up in the rafters give em a brass statue and call it a day.
Anyone should be able to wear 9 or 3 or 18 or 21 or 35 or 81 or whatever. |

And a few more are coming, 19, 88, 2 and 98. If this keeps up they’ll be introducing 3 digit sweater numbers. |

I agree with you guys, should be names and not numbers going up, but I still would not raise Chelios sweater to the rafters. |

I predict that there will never be a ceremony for Stan Bowman who was the architect for at least two Cups and deserves some credit too for the 2010 Cup
GM’s don’t get recognized especially if later their record is stained with the poor judgment in the Beach affair.
Sam Pollak (Montreal) never had a banner raised for his accomplishments, right |

Totally agree. Like you mention, hang a banner, placards around the stadium...something. Putting the number out to pasture though is one tradition all sports should rethink IMHO... |

Pretty sure that's a typo J, but if not would love to hear your theory on Stanbo's contributions to that Lightning Cup win. |

I find it humourous and somewhat shocking that anyone believes that Stan or anyone else under McD had any say in the cover up.
You could make the argument that they all should of quit their jobs and said something, or course that's very easy to do 10 years after the fact.
I heard that Stan and Q have been banned and would have to go in front of Bettman to get reinstated, I've never heard the same about McD, wonder why???
I get he wouldn't come back anywhere, but did anyone ever hear about his bans or just Q and Stan, cause I don't remember it.
Next to the event itself, this is the biggest travesty of the whole thing that he got away scott free. |

You’re never wrong for doing the right thing.” But I would add that doing the right thing often takes great courage and integrity. ~ Mark Twain.
You’re right McD was the main problem but if the story we’ve heard is correct someone should other than McD should have stepped up.

Long overdue? Why? WTf did ever win as a Blackhawk? Nothing that mattered. |

I agree with everything Zach says about Chelios. Very well-earned.
That being said, the countdown begins the moment Chelios' number is raised for Seabrook to join him. 3 Stanley Cups, and the most unheralded of the core for those teams. Simply the best. |

Will miss tonight’s game, but hope they boo his arse once again. Chelios has no business going up to the rafters. The only guy that played less than ten years for the Hawks and deserves to be up there is Hossa, the ultimate pro. |
