I'm not saying they can't make it, but I don't see it.
They should:
beat the Blue Jackets
lose to the Preds
lose to the Rangers
beat the Canadians
lose to the Rangers
the last two games they should win, but they are kind of toss ups
That's based on records so who knows. The other problem is they lose the tie break to everyone. They will need the extra point.

That point they gave to Philly may bite them right in the arse. Their inability to close out games in a 1/3 of their games played is a mind blowing stat. If they won half of those games we may be fighting for home ice instead of the last wild card spot. |

I thought it might have been a typo where you intended "at", but typed "in". The Isles' game is at 7 tonight. |

Ha-ha! Me with a typo?
On another topic, I did not see it, but the Rangers and Devils must have thought they were at a WWE event. |

Knowing the Isles, the rangers will start some guy that never played an NHL game and he'll score a hat trick. |

Well of course not! What was I thinking???
I watched parts of the Rags-Devs game last night. I watched the fight on tape. Apparently, the Devs were pretty pissed off by a really dirty hit (elbow to the head?) by the Rags young goon, Rempe, in the previous game. (Rempe received a 4-game suspension, I think.). The Devs went out and traded for their own goon (MacDermid), and the second the opening puck dropped, the gloves dropped.........by the 2 heavyweights as well as pretty much everyone on the ice. Not quite the Penguins/Islanders game in 2011, but not bad. - JohnScammo
I just do not think fights at the start of the game is a good look. It’s also hard not think about Chris Simon and other fighters dying young with CTE and seeing Rempe fighting this much. The players are much bigger and stronger today. |

Legend has it that on quiet nights you can still hear Penguin fans whining about that game.

Definitely his 1st NHL goal, that is money in the bank. And was shocked that the giant Russian didn't get his 1st win the other night in Philly.

You're right, of course. CTE is no joke. As you know, in the olden days, EVERYBODY fought when called upon. It was not limited to the team's goons. I think the NHL got a little embarrassed by the movie, Slapshot, and slowly began to tone things down. The first thing they did was eliminate the bench-clearing brawls. Enforcing rules more strictly against dirty hits has helped. The instigator rule has cut back on a lot of fights. I don't think the League can ever totally eliminate fighting or the risk of concussion, but they've made some progress.

I just feel for the players and their families. I know concussion are a part of sports like hockey, but you can almost understand it happening outside of fighting if this makes sense. You cannot take hitting out of the game, but I think the game can survive without fighting.

Players make their choices. You could argue that they are too young to truly understand the consequences when they come into the league. That could be said about a lot of activities. I did my share of dumb stuff when I was younger and I wasn't getting paid millions.
I get your argument against fighting and I don't disagree on principal. To me it would feel like a different game without the threat of getting into a fight. I would be more open to it if the league would do a better job of protecting players.

This is true Jimmy. Players do make their choices. I do not think fans and hockey people foaming at the mouth over Rempe helps. Even news people are in love with Rempe. NHL has failed in terms of player safety IMO. |

I for one was hoping they would cause mass casualties on each other while I was watching it. |
