Not sure what to make of all the trouble getting McClellan. I understand part of it is a BlueJacket FO vs. Kings FO standoff. Then an issue with McClellan ?? But first, it's a sign maybe this coaching job is not as attractive as what's being sold to us. You know, great pipeline, young studs with high ceilings.

McClellan wanted term because this roster (from his POV) is nowhere near competing for a playoff spot, an assessment I strongly agree with . If McLellan is doing this to preserve his reputation, I find it a bit pretentious on his part considering ;

-he only made the playoffs once in Edmonton with two of the greatest players in the nhl

-And he never came out of the first round with the Kings, on top of missing the post season twice, resulting in his firing given last season was a slow motion train wreck.

Good points ! I agree. He's a little pretentious. Borrowing an old sports adage - sometimes the best trade is the one not made. Just substitute "coach signing" for trade.
