4.4 million at the deadline is a top 4 right shot defenseman.
I've got a fully rested and rehabbed Connor Murphy ready for you at the TDL. |

That’s a damn good 2nd line…. I believe Skinner will be very good next to Drai….
The key is weather Arvidsson can stay healthy… I don’t think the Oil get 50 games out of him… He’s older and still very susceptible to injury. Big risk.

Time will tell - in two years we will see if Broberg re-signs for a bigger contract, a lesser contract, or is heading off to play overseas.

Notice how Bowman squeezed out an extra pick plus prospect to allow them to walk away. That bluff only works if they dumped Ceci to give the Blues the threat that we can just match both players. So he adds an extra pick, a prospect, dumps Ceci without paying that steep of a price, and adds Podkolzin and Emberson. This reserves cap space to make a more meaningful in-season addition, likely to bolster the defense.
Remember, this is the GM who we were told loses every trade, in an analysis that failed to recognize the context of how he was shedding salary to keep his core together. I'd say he steered through this as best as possible... |

I was wondering if Bowman did that purposefully or if it was a goodwill gesture by Armstrong to prevent retaliation. I didn't like either player very much at those cap hits. Think both will be considered busts for their draft position. I thought Bowman did about as well as he could have given the circumstances.

I hope Broberg performs at his potential (and gets the chance to do so). If so, I agree with you. I just think he was too much of a risk this year for that kind of cap hit.
Also, I hope Holloway performs at his potential as well on the Blues and that he's not the second coming of Jesse Puljarjarvi which was the second coming of Magnus Paajarvi.

Podkolzin was a 10th overall. He's approaching that bust designation. |

For sure. I expect all three to be nothing more than Just Another Guys. Fine for ordinary depth players, but I consider that bust status when drafting in the top 14 picks. |

You're becoming worse than Jane Tanner with this Bowman nonsense. We get it |

No one could, by any measure, be worse than Tanner.
Light one up for me Comrade Jimmy. |

Cloutier(sp) was just as bad as Tanner, Berry was worse.
The blogger is just pissed his team has no moral standards when it comes to past indiscretions by players or management so that’s why he states that Stan Bowman, who was complicit in the Kyle Beach sexual assault and assaults of a high school and university student, don’t forget his complicity in the situation. |

This was what I was also thinking, I thought Bowman did rather well given the situation he was put in. |

Oilers have cap space now. The defense will be improved.
