Do the Canes ever plan on signing Alexander Nikishin or does he not plan on ever coming over from the KHL?

Wouldn't mind the Wings trading for this guy unless he never plans on coming over. Doubt the Canes would be interested in trading him unless he won't come over.

He's the captain of SKA and they won't release him from his contract. When it's up in March/April this year he'll come over. Everything has been agreed to, he wanted to leave last year, but here we are.

It will be interesting to see how he does. His game seems like it should translate to success in the NHL. A shame that the Wings had so many picks in that draft but never took him. Yzerman and Draper don't seem like they like taking Russians at all. I think they've only drafted 1 Russian since Yzerman took over in Detroit.
