shame they couldn't work out a deal.

So the bruins trade away a bunch of players AND THEN win?
FFS they can't even tank properly.

At AVS/leafs tonight in Denver. So weird seeing coyle and Carlo on opposite ends of the ice on different teams.

Watched most of that game. I see Carlo led the Leafs in TOI. "I know you just got here, don't know our system, and haven't even had a practice with us...but go and have the most TOI on the team."

I read that Carlo and Coyle flew to Denver together...that had to be really weird.

I wonder what he was asking for, Lindholm is getting 7.5 for 11 goals and 20 assists, Marchand clearly has better numbers.

Had a bunch of people telling me Marchand scorched the Bz management and Swayman going out the door but I cant find anything on that, anyone hear anything?

I would bet he comes back to Boston after the playoffs. The return on the trade would have been higher if he was expected to resign in Florida. It's probably understood by all parties involved that it's a pure rental for Florida and Boston is doing Marchand a favor by letting him chase a cup in an otherwise lost season.

Guess we'll see what happens after this season.

It has been clearly reported (Elliot Friedman) that Marchy asked for a sit-down and said he was willing to bend on his ask and asked the Bruins to do the same...they apparently didn't budge.

Be interested to know the numbers. If Don offered him 3 mil a season that’s shameful and doesn’t make any sense. He still averages 25-30 goals a season. I know you shouldn’t pay for past performances, but he’s still productive and been way underpaid for years. I don’t see how a 3 yr 5-6mil AAV would be any problem. He deserved it, heart and soul of the team.

Only thing I saw along those lines was an ai fake.
It was pretty funny, but obviously faked.

Harvard boy has no respect or understanding of bruin spirit. He kind of forced Chara and Krug out with the same disrespect. If your not willing to compromise with this guy who can still play and is the identity of what a bruin is then let him walk and don’t make it sound like you helped the team with a 2nd round pick years from now. It’s embarrassing. Sweeney’s legacy as a gm will be the same as it was as a player. Longevity and no cups. He played over 1000 games in this uniform and his hilite reel would be 3 minutes long and consist of him congratulating Ray and Neely after they scored.

Not a fan of Sweeny at all, but you are not correct about Chara.

Bruins offered him same money he eventually accepted elsewhere. It was just that Chara wanted more ice time and the Bruins (rightly) said no - the man was slowing down a lot.

That is what I mean about disrespect. Didn’t say money . They wanted him to be a healthy scratch type. Don’t know they offered the same money but how do you guarantee anyone ice time in the summer. It was disrespectful and kind of forced him out by telling him he was going to be a fringe player. He wanted him to go.

With Krug another heart on your sleeve bruin he never offered him anything while making believe he was interested. I wouldn’t give Tory the contract he got but Sweeney was again a di-k.
He has been blessed with the players and tradition
That was in place . He thinks he is smarter than he is. Starting in 2015 with the 3 number 1’s he had. Even the coaches. Cassidy doesn’t look that bad now does he.

Don’t want to sound like I didn’t like anything Sweeney ever did. I liked some moves and even understand the Coyle ,Carlo moves but he has treated players who epitomized bruin identity with little regard . I’d like to smack him when he talks tradition and identity.

I didn’t like the Chara exit either. They asked him to be a 7th dman. He certainly had 1 more year as a 3rd pairing, penalty killer. Wasn’t a fan of that at all. He was +26 his last year in Boston. Captain as well.

It’s easy to jump all over Sweeney. I’ve done it lots and don’t agree with stuff he does. But he seems to prove people wrong. People wanted his head for signing Ullmark. Then he won the vézina. They retooled in 2017 and then went to the cup shortly after. I don’t know why I’m pumping his tires. lol

I simply don’t understand people defending the 3mil AAV. Cripes. Peeke makes 2.75 lol
With the cap going up would 5 mil AAV be that big of deal? Must have been worried about year 3. Go 2 yrs, 6 AAV.

He lost lateral movement after the knee injury. Literally couldn't walk the line and was getting torched by young, skilled forwards. Still letting him walk for nothing was crap. Same for DeBUST, Krug, and Gryzlyck

Now that Carlo is gone, they have officially done away with any value they got out of the 2015 draft.

Not to beat a dead horse but he was more valuable than the 5-6 pair they played. And the supposed bruin identity , captain , toughness should have meant something , true ? He played over 18 min his next 2 years and was a plus player .

This team still has potential if the players here like McAvoy,Pasta, Sway, Lindholm play their best. Sweeney is going to have cap room so I don’t think they’re going to be a bottom feeder. They have other decent players but Sweeney is still a pig for his whole bruin tradition bruin identity bs

😄 Marchand still said “us” when talking about the Bruins.

around 11:00 he’s asked about leaving Boston.

No he was not. His mobility had declined a LOT. It was Chara's choice to leave. He and management were not on the same page as to what his role should be. It happens. Get over it.

As for the Bruins now... in your Chara rant you talk about his toughness being a great characteristic. Then you lambaste Sweeney for embracing that. Dude, make up your mind.

The Bruins needed a reset and this off-season was a good START.

I still am very convinced that Marchand will be back in three months. They realized the chances of playoffs were dwindling and Marchand is likely going to be out for a majority of the regular season. So they let him go take a shot at it with the Panthers and brought in a pick.

I am generally in defense of Sweeney but if Marchand re-signs with Florida. He should be fired that day.

That being said, I am not so sure I would be handing Marchand a three year deal at this point in his career. Kind of shocked he even wants one.

Where do you ever see me lambaste Sweeney for embracing toughness ? Explain

And please tell me about the bottom pair defense that was better . Zboril ? Who ? And that terribly dman played 18 mins and was plus for 2 more years
