The NHL from icings to to makeup calls to calls that aren't there, to ref changing calls during playoffs, to goaler interference, to suspensions, to non suspensions, to head shots, to penalty shot calls is a joke so where this goes nobiody knows |

It’s getting harder and harder to defend the NHL. I agree. |

If they call this another, “that’s just a normal play” like they said about the Chatfield play, it’s a joke. If that’s a normal play, then you really aren’t protecting anyone. |

The DOPeS decided long ago that they're protecting players' wallets, not the players themselves. |

While it is definitely a dirty play, it didn't look like he put much force into it. So, I would guess 1 game suspension. Maybe 2 if the DoPS is feeling generous. I really don't see any more than that from that replay. |

Fine or maybe one game. Didn't look that bad to me and feels like Nurse held back. Honestly, just based on other plays that were penalties, not called or suspensions, I can't see there being much on this one. |

In full disclosure I'm a Kings fan but I would say the same thing if Anderson did this to an Oilers player 2-3 games and a $5000 fan which means nothing to Nurse, that's like $5 to us.
The fact that Byfield didn't play the rest of the game and we'll see if he plays tonight should impact the decision BUT I must admit the 80's hockey fan in me hopes he gets 1-2 games and then he and Jeannot when he comes back fight and then it's done. Would be an awesome way to start the series similar to US vs Canada in The Four Nations Tourney. |

What seems to be missed is the cross check attempt to Byfields head, which he misses and takes Byfield down to then give him a shot to the neck/head area. To me that just shows intent to injure. My guess he’ll miss the rest of the season, which I think is two games? But I would be surprised if he misses a playoff game. |

I guess he needs to break his neck before you protect your players from that dirty cheap play ? Which that greasy Fuk is known for ? Come on man you don’t wait for someone to be really hurt before you make an example of a repeat offender do you ? If that’s the case if no one ever is really hurt anything goes I guess |

Letting that poop go is what leads to a Steve Moore type play so I guess you’re ok with stupidity in the game ? |

Meh! I was thinking two. It’s def dirty, but where the issue is, the DOPeS. They’re not playing in the game at the time, aren’t watching it in real time, nor equal in their decision making. I’ve been saying it for years……Get rid of the INSTIGATOR PENALTY!!
I remember if someone went after Gretzky with anything dirty, McSorely would grab you and make you dance w him, whether you wanted to or not. It was a time where you had to pay for the sh!t you do on the ice. That was hockey!! Problem solved!
It really is that simple. Instead, the NHL chases casual fans who despise fighting, and alienate the core fans. Could they be any dumber? That was rhetorical, as we already know. |

If the NHL actually wanted to clean this trash up - which they don't - and given that all major penalties are automatically immediately reviewed now, they would do something like any upheld major is an automatic 3 game suspension and any upheld match penalty is an automatic 10 game suspension.
But, again, they won't, because they don't actually care if this kind of thing happens. |

Honestly after Perry got hit by Gudas the other day the media was livid when the players response was that he said no to a fight.
It was time for either us to step up and start playing over that line or the next time it happened to us you don't give the guy an option. Grab him and take the instigator.

That should absolutely NOT be taken into account. That's the current problem with DoPS today. DoPS does subscribe to this idea.
Either a play is illegal or it isn't. It doesn't have anything to do with an injury resulting from a play. The same play can result in no injury or a freak accident that severely injures a guy. Therefore, you have to evaluate the play without that influence. |

That and the game is absolutely meaningless and teams are sitting guys all the time.
So how can you take that a guy is sitting out a game at this time of year into consideration of a suspension
The league actually needs someone that doesn't watch the games or listen to post game scrums. You essentially are told to review a play without any knowledge of what happened to the victim. |

as always the league is a joke, hits like this should start at 5 games, the player is down can't defend himselve and he hits him twice. If you want it out of the game start giving games that matter all hits to the head should start at 5 games. |

Completely unnecessary play by Nurse there. Although it could have been much worse, he definitely deserves to sit out some games. |
