Jeff Quirin: Monday Mailbag: Looking Ahead to 2012-13 + Talking Blues on MNF Today's Monday Mailbag tackles questions about next season, the future of the Blues' payroll, who should be the third center and external defenseman options.

Just as Bobby Ryan & Luongo are staying put for right now due to their GM's ludicrous trade demands, I hope that Armstrong keeps the same routine up for whatever is being asked for a d'man. Once the contenders separate themselves from the pretenders, the market should be better for Yandle/Jay Bo/whoever. I'm looking fwd to Cole playing more minutes.

I think Cole has earned the shot. He's looked pretty well. What to watch from him is consistency and staying focused. Otherwise he's an upgrade over other dmen.

I don't know if the trade deadline is the best time but once you get into a season and GMs get a feeling and you have the chance to get someone signed past the season you make the move no later than December unless injuries hit. The closer you get to the deadline the more your competition drives the price.

Feaster will most likely get the most value if not now than the trade deadline the season after next or during the draft.

Any team that is going to be iffy next year and is in the midst of rebuilding should begin moving players after the season starts in order to get a chance at the elite talent of the next number one over all. That is if you like Crosby type of players on your team.
