Line 1 and Line 2 were the first 2 lines at the Winter Classic Alumni game....Lindros Leclair and Recchi would be amazing. |

I remember there was a time in I think 99 that Recchi came back to us. Lindros was still on the team and when playing EA sports nhl 99 or 2000 I'd put Lindros LeClair and Rex together. Unstopabble.. LOL |

Kerr, Clarke & the Rifle? Jesus, that's an unstoppable unit right there. - Jsaquella
What are your thoughts on the D? I think it looks steady but falls short of some of the original six teams. |

Good Point, Kind of hard to match up with:
MTL: Doug Harvey, Larry Robinson, Jacques Laperierre, Serge Savard, Chris Chelios,
Guy Lapointe and that still leaves out Tim Johnson and J.C. Tremblay, yikes!
or even more frightening...
BOS: How do you like a top 4 of Bobby Orr, Eddie Shore, Ray Bourque and Zdeno Chara? When Brad Park is at best your 5th defenseman, thats friggin scary! |

Not sure what kind of minutes Shore and Orr used to eat up but borque and Chara can play half the game. I think id take Bostons D but it would be hard to pass up on MTL. |

I agree in terms of HOF status it falls short of some other teams. But I would classify the Flyers defense as more then steady. It has the incredible pairing of Howe and McCrimmon who were dominant in their prime together. And then future HOF Chris Pronger, Desjardins, Timonen and Jimmy Watson. That's pretty formidable if you ask me. |

Can't wait for the simulated games. Mark Recchi scores a PP goal for the Flyers with Mark Recchi off for a hooking penalty for the Pens. |

Even look at Montreal's goaltending options. You'd have a HHOF'er as your third string goalie.. hahah |

I'm kind of saying the same thing over and over, but do you think Lindros in his prime would be scared of "elite orginal six" d-men, or do you think he would turn those 6' 190lb "giants" into a bunch of accordions?
There is always talk on here about "have you seen the old-timers play?". Have you (plural) seen Lindros play? He destroyed people.
I doubt Pronger would be too scared either.
BTW - after all the verbal jousting - the lines look pretty good. Good job Bill / readers.

Tough to argue that one. |

Here is a car from the 1920's. I call it the Montreal Canadian. It was the best car of its time, a true HOF'er.
Many of my friends asked if they think my ford mustang could take this HOF'er. I call my mustang the "Giroux".
My reply - I don't know. I have a good car, but I'm not driving a lamborghini.
My friends asked if I have ever seen the Model T race. I said no. They replied - "well then there is no way you know if you can win".
In the end, I had to agree. You can't beat a HOF'er. |

I think of Recchi as more like a Porsche. |

Lindros was one of my favorites and i still enjoy going on youtube to watch video of him running people. Unfortunately what comes to mind when thinking of Lindros is him laying in the fetal position compliments of Scott Stevens during the playoff run against the Devils.
Big E looked good at the Winter Classic. For about a second i was delusional thinking what if he came back. Only for a sec till i realized i was thinking foolishly. |

I'm old, but nowhere near old enough to have seen Shore, although in his era most teams only dressed 4 defenseman, so since he was their number 1, and arguably the best defenseman of his time I would guess he played around 35 minutes a game> I had the pleasure of watching Orr play. He routinely played over 30 minutes a game, and in the playoffs, he often played over 35. He was a true freak of nature and could skate rings around most of the players from his era. |
