Bill,
How concerned should we be that Giroux is flying back to meet with a "concussion specialist" after that cross check in Germany? Talk me off the ledge.

Not too concerned re: a concussion. He wouldn't be taking a transcontinental flight if he had active concussion symptoms. A neck stinger is usually minor, but they want to be absolutely sure, because it is still a spinal injury. They've said it's precautionary and, in this case, I think that's all it is. Otherwise, he'd be seeing specialists in Berlin because the concussion protocol would forbid him to travel (especially with such a long distance involved).

I always look at Islanders games on the schedule as an easy W and two points in the bank.

Not so much with the Sound Tigers!

Mike Testwuide

I remember when the Flyers signed Testwuide, the signing was considered a coup.

Is Testwuide not as good as advertised or is he one of the guys getting pushed out of an AHL job (and development opportunities) because of Couturier and Schenn right now?

Interesting stuff:

http://prohockeytalk.nbcs...t-date-trading-cap-space/

Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star reports the two sides have “more or less” agreed on a number of issues and some of them are pretty fun.

Moving the start of free agency to June 15 or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup has been awarded, whichever is later.
Ability to trade salary cap space and give teams better ability to get out from loaded deals.
Elimination of re-entry waivers.
Neutral third-party arbitrators to weigh in on on-and-off-ice punishment.
A joint health committee.
Minimum roster requirements so teams couldn’t dress fewer players to dodge salary cap problems.

Very interesting. From what I have read on today's negotiations players have really given in and conceded a bunch of stuff to the owners. Players want to play hockey. The ball, or puck if you will is clearly in the owners court. If this doesn't produce some compromise on the owners behalf, they can all (frank) off and die.

The big concession the NHLPA made today, if I'm understanding correctly, is that they're moving off of an assured dollar amount of revenue per year and are now willing to negotiate on percentages. It also sounds like the way today's meetings end will be highly indicative of whether we have a shortened 2012-13 season or not.

Yup, exactly. If this doesn't lead to a deal, there won't be a season.

I hear the deal they're currently hammering out is in the five year mold. Like, really? We want to come back to this exercise in frustration that soon? I mean, whenever this CBA ends we're definitely going to see another lockout, can't we at least push it back a little further?

poop, at this point I'd be happy with just a, "Negotiations for the day have concluded, we will build off of what we've got after the holiday weekend," statement. As long as it's not more finger pointing and pessimism.

Just checked the CSKA feed and saw they were down 3-0 after the 1st.. Any idea if Bryz started that game?

I agree! Just give us some indication talks are going well or at least not horribly.

From the article:

"Some of the NHL players have been keeping up on their skills overseas...
last night, Sidney Crosby was at the Justin Bieber concert in Pittsburgh."

We are fools. We have all heard the same thing from the start, thanksgiving. Weather they get it done tomorrow or Friday, it is close enough. They knew what they were doing. These negotiations have been a joke.

Yes, Bryz was in goal. CSKA lost 4-0.
