Thanks again for the work you do Bill.
Just a quick question, if you would have the time.
What are your thoughts on the Murray/Laviolette systems. One preaches a more defensive minded scheme in the AHL, and the other is more of a forechecking up tempo game.
It will be a change for any of the kids when they get called up. |

There is an adjustment in terms of attack-first vs. defend-first emphasis but the Phantoms players who have already played for the Flyers are already used to both systems. For any call-ups who never played for Laviolette before, the initial adjustment would be bigger. But at least both Murray and Laviolette heavily emphasize keeping the feet moving, and both systems emphasize puck-moving D men.

Do they have any concern with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties Zac Rinaldo is getting/taking? - ob18
That is a funny question coming from a referee
Zac only plays one way and if he wants to play in the nhl he will have to be more diciplined. He is a lot like Carbomb that is really effective when you let him loose but when you do that you also risk the bad penalties. Lava did a better job with Carbomb than he did with Briere and his soft penalties. I would rather take two for hammering somebody rather than Briere's lazy infractions. |

That's why I ask he's getting them often enough at the AHL level it's a concern if they hope to have him in the plans for the NHL if they ever get back on the ice. |

I hear you, he will have to be on a short leash
I love his intensity but it penalties start hurting the team he has to go. |

IMO, I think Sestito takes his roster spot, all things being equal. This may tip the scales more in TS favor |

To be honest I'd prefer neither on the roster & they find somebody else. |

To be fair, refs have his number, and he gets zero leeway based on his reputation. I do think he's tried to play under more control this season thus far, with a couple slip-ups. |

I'd rather take Briere's scoring, especially his playoff scoring prowess over carbomb hammering somebody!

I'm sure that's the case much of the time & some is his inability to keep a cool head. Is the team working with him or letting him figure it out on his own? |

I think it is a matter of having a bad reputation and getting penalized for ridiculous infractions. The same applies to Rinaldo. |

I know he has one and it's well earned and won't be easy to reverse the reputation he has & can only really know based on what's reported since I am not watching AHL games. |

Sestito can be an absolute wrecking ball in the forechecking game. What is he again, 6ft 5, 230lbs? Problem is he's such a hot head... If he can ever calm down I absolutely want him on our 4th line. Not so sure he'll ever play smarter hockey tho. |

Reputation is a big problem for Rinaldo, but in all fairness he earned it. |

Rinaldo is such a nice guy in person. I was truly impressed by how open he was with fans. |
