fehr has been a problem since day 1, and i don't know how the players can't see it. the guy is a narcissistic piece of poop, who only seems to be concerned with saying whatever he can to make the nhl look bad, and has zero interest in making a deal. I honestly think that less than 50% of what's come out of his mouth has been the truth.
the guy KILLED the game of baseball almost single-handedly, and is about to do 10 times worse to the NHL. if fehr goes, i bet there's a deal in place, that's good for both parties, in a day. |

Bettman had a great presser. Showed emotion and made the union look like the bully's. The players are idiots if they think they will get more out of the owners. Their leader is screwing them out of a good deal. |

I loved Bettman's news conference today. He looked like he was going to eat the heart out of a live puppy. |

I can't believe the players think they can stand up to the owners - it's absolutely baffling that they still think the NHL is bluffing & they'll still give in on certain matters.
Wake the hell up already, you just pissed off 3 owners who actually tried to get the other owners to listen & get a deal done, now all you did is piss them off to the point where they stand firmly behind Gary & the owners are as solid as they ever have been.
So Ryan Miller & Sid the kid & Ron Hainsey can put on their disgust all they want, just look in the mirror heros & you'll soon see why there won't be a NHL season.
I actually hope they lockout them out for 5yrs, i could care less anymore. And decertify, yeah as Dreger mentioned, you don't think the NHL and their legal team has gone over all of that - they could care less & are not in the least way intimidated by that threat.
Fehr says we're close to try and get, i guess the stupid fan, to think it's the NHL's fault however when it comes down to it, it' all a ploy and a lie, something Fehr has been doing since he took over his role with the NHLPA!!! |

I like how the stick man is designed to accentuate the breasts as much as possible. Leonardo was a great artist, but never did he design a titty-top like this one. |

My question to you is....
What took you so long to realize who's the problem. I think it's been pretty obvious from day 1. The day the players hired Fehr I knew who the problem would be..... |

Fehr is JUST WANT THE PLAYERS NEED.
Sorry Mr. Skywalker. Darth is not the bad guy. Unless you think that a 24% rollback last time was not enough or that it is NOT the GM's offering 126 year contracts or ... lets face it.... the last cancelled season was due to a money crisis.... this one is greed on the PART OF THE OWNERS
This is a lock out, not a strike.

Bettman keeps saying the owners keep giving.
You can't give what you never had Gary.....
They players had 57% they are giving 7% to get to 50/50.
The players have those long term contracts, Bettman will "give" $300 million of the $393 million those contracts are valued at? What a nice guy.
The players are the ones giving here.
2 of the 6 owners (Jacobs and Chipman) in the room the past few days signed young players to 6 year deals days before the CBA expired. Now they want them to be at max 5 years?
The owners are like women with a $30,000 job but a credit card limit of $45,000 on a shopping spree. Gary is like the husband trying to make sure he keeps her in check.
The players are not being greedy here and neither is Fehr. |

The three "must haves" that the owners need, are all good for the fans. Everything the players are demanding only serve themselves. I don't want the owners to give one more inch. |

I think it's more a case of the owners trying to close loopeholes from the last CBA that they didn't think through. Yes, it's their fault but these stupid contracts hurt the game. |

What. Do you mean the 24% rollback that saw the average players salary rise from 1.4 Million avg. to 2.4 milion since then?
You mean the long albatross contracts that the owners are trying to stop, and the players blocked an almost done deal to protect?
I guess it is greed for the owners to want thier profits to be at least 10% of revenues, or be able to see most if not all owners actually turn a profit. (neither of which was happening previously)

Richard Cloutier: At Least We Know Who the Problem is Now - Maxbone
We have a winner..........Cloutier, you nailed it and I am 100% in agreement with you. The PA overplayed their hand and now the nuclear option is pointed right at them. If they think decertification is going to fix this for them. they're totally wrong. They'll lose and lose big. Other leagues never had a direct competitor, so the players in those leagues could prove that the league bargained in bad faith. The NHL has players from all over the world and the KHL pays big dollar contracts for players. The NHL could just say, the players have an option, they can play in the KHL. The players will lose their guaranteed contract status and will end up with an imposed CBA from the league. They've done nothing but lost money, since this has started and it's not going to change. They better open wide and swallow, the bad medicine is coming there way! |
