1-Make it 7 years deals
2- if at 30% variance, should not be an issue for PA
3- Can't blame the league, let the players fund their pension, they are millionaires.

Still the issue of the salary cap next year, League will move to 63-64M

deal by next week

I find in mind boggling that contract length is still an issue, considering they're not that far apart. The PA wants 8 years and the owners want 6 years, or 7 if you are re-signing your own player. Just meet in the middle already and go with a 7 year maximum contract under all circumstances.

The Nhl and Players union have announced they will come to an agreement shortly before training camp that is much the same as the old agreement.

Ya, you're right. We have the best product of all major sports, but its run by the worst group of people (on the owners and PA sides).

Further in this new contract both sides have agree to start a saving s fund to help the owners and union reps thru the next lockout.

30% variance? Wow. I really can't believe how much the owners are conceding.

Contraction here we come!

There were some concerns this morning with HRR package sent by league to players. NHLPA upset because it believes penalties for "hiding" HRR were very weak. Some of this afternoon's discussions will be clarifications on this and other "language" issues.

An afternoon discussion on HRR. We are full circle.

Were I an owner I'd lobby for no more pensions at all. Anyone who joins the league beginning this season doesn't get one. Honor the old ones and be done with it. It's an antiquated notion.
