Poor Calgary jumped too soon, Sestito would have been a nice addition for them. |

Too bad about Gus' setback, but I'm OK with Foster coming back in the lineup. I'm really looking forward to getting Meszaros back!
And remember, folks, easy on the booze tonight. 12 noon start time for tomorrow's game against Ottawa! |

Probably a dumb question but is there any compensation for a player being claimed off waivers?
Sestito is a beast on the forecheck. I wish Lavi would have a little more faith in the guy. |

It'd be great if both got claimed, and freed up roster space.
Sestito never really got a fair shake from Laviolette. I agree that his flaws are correctable and it'd be nice to have a 4th line guy that has his size and skating ability, because he's not a bad player at all. I'd be amazed if he went unclaimed, considering the quality of other who were claimed so far this season.
Leighton is what he is. He has to play regularly to be effective and obviously he's not going to get the chance to do so here in the NHL. I can't think of anyone who would put in a claim, though-maybe Chicago if Coery Crawford is out for a bit with his UBI suffered last night. |

I think they made the trade for McGrattan because they were at 50 contracts. |

Nope. It does open a contract slot, but there's no player or pick compensation. |

They could give him a Stanley Cup ring since he was their MVP in the 2010 Finals. |

Having 2 days off before Saturday's game will hopefully allow Lavy to lean on Coburn, Schenn and Grossmann heavily if Gus can't go. With the advantage of last change, hopefully they can control who Gervais and Foster match up against and keep both of them to 15 minutes or less.

It would be nice to see them go on a little winning streak now.
Not very realistic with the upcoming schedule, I know.
Ottawa/NYR/Pens/Boston
Buffalo/NJD/NJD/Tampa
then 4 days off! And no back to back games.
Would love to see them win 6 of these next 8. |

I see all these games as winnable. NYR hasn't given them fits in the 1st two games this season and we've had the Pens number over the last 2 years. Buffalo has struggled mightily and we've beaten Tampa. NJD hasn't been great of late although we know what they've done to the Flyers recently. Ottawa's gonna have to cool off eventually. How long can they sustain this level of play while missing their best forward, dman and starting goalie? Boston should beat us but who knows? Optimism! |

I think 4 of 8 would be good considering the schedule. . |

Ultimately it depends on which Flyers team shows up... we could realistically win all or lose all depending... I hope we break .500 |

My guess is 5-2-1 if we get mostly the good team and 3-5 if we get mostly the bad. |
