Amnesty Danny and run with Mason and Bryz next year. That would be my play. - TheRat14
Mine too. Unless you can trade Danny which is unlikely. Great Blog Tim. |

Tim Panaccio: Who To Amnesty? - tpanaccio
didnt Briere thank the philly fans yesterday for how good they've been to him over the years last night?
....seems obvious from there
also this
"Dreger: Pierre LeBrun spoke with Flyers GM Paul Holmgren and was informed that Bryzgalov wouldn't be bought out this off-season. There is a rift between coach Peter Laviolette and Bryzgalov, but there doesn't appear to be a coaching change so it's up to both men to work out their issues." |

I think we should buyout Claude Giroux, just to send a message. |

That's not enough of a message. Jettison Simmonds and Voracek also to really make sure the message is received. |

Are you aware the Flyers and every other team can amnesty two players if they wish? Are you aware of anything? |

The buyout of Brierre is all but a certainty, however with Bryz I would try to trade him, if that fails hold him. Then try again to move him before the trade deadline if Mason proves himself a capable replacement. I that doesn't work then you can attempt to trade him in the off-season again before buying him out. We won't get much in return but alleviating ourselves of his cap hit would be good enough and we would have control of his destination. The last thing you want to do is buy him out and have him become a god with the Devils on a dime. |

They can try to trade him I guess. Tough contract to swallow. |

Buyout Briere this summer, Bryz next summer unless he wins the Vezina and a Cup for us.
Target Shattenkirk once they re-sign Petro to a massive deal. |

Maybe I'm way off base but Briere should have a ton of value. Not to a team that spends to the cap but someone like Phoenix. His cap hit stays at 6.5 but his actual salary starts to diminish. Isn't that what a budget team would want (a way to get to the cap without actually spending the money)? They can't sign those types of contracts anymore so maybe they'll take him via trade. The only issue I see with that is the NMC. Thoughts? |

issue NMC. unless there is somewhere he wants to go that has alot of capspace then no chance of a trade.

Why would he waive though. He'll get the buyout money which is around 3 mil on top of a new contract. It makes zero sense for him to waive. |

There are a lot of teams going to be calling St.Lou for a D...were thinking offer sheet for an RFA or a straight up trade? |

I'd try to make a deal at the draft, gonna have to give to get but he will fill a need nicely. If nothing can be worked out, advise their GM of the impending offer sheet.
I'd also try and pry Leddy from Chicago, we really need 2 d-men for next season. |

Please tell me you're joking (I actually can't tell )
Flyers may not even have to offer sheet someone like Shattenkirk. If money is tight for St. Louis and Pietrangelo wants a ton of cash you could probably work a trade for him (shattenkirk). The right combination of prospects and picks may force the Blues to consider if they can't give both D-men what they want. |

I'm guessing they have the cash to secure all their RFAs, it's a matter of internal budget. At least I'm hoping.
Smartest Sabres fan post I've seen in a while. |

Tim Panaccio: Who To Amnesty? - tpanaccio
They could amnesty them both.
Briere makes the most sense right now. He's ill-suited to playing wing, and there's a glut of young centermen. Even if one, like Brayden Schenn moved to wing, there's still 3 strong candidates for playing time in Couturier, Giroux and Laughton.
As for Bryzgalov, buying him out would necessitate getting another goalie that can at least split time with Mason. I'm not sold Mason can be a full time starter, but if the best Bryz can be is average, they can get that a lot cheaper and use the cap savings to address other areas. |
