We have no backup plan for losing Frans Nielsen. If he's out, I think we're toast |

THERE STILL IN IT!
Honestly, if NYI had average goaltending, they'd be winning this series. If it weren't for Dipietro's contract, I'd say they should go after Lu. |

I BeLIeve we may be toast. Hate to say it but this game went almost exactly as i expected tonight. For whatever reason, Vokoun is the ultimate Islander killer. Six shutouts in 26 games and a sv pct near .940. Our defense is simply too thin to keep up with them when our goalie gives up four goals a game. Now we may quite possibly see Reasoner logging big minutes
I'll hope for the best but am expecting the worst. |

Thats the second time he did that move this season. The kid is unreal. Sid followed up with a nice one of his own but it was more because Hickey misplayed it. |

Good effort in the first for the Isles, you guys stuck it out and had some reasonable chances. Isles are good for a scare to the Pens. Lets hope Saturday is a classic. |

If Pens play like they did last night in game 6 they win hands down. That was what everyone in Pittsburgh has been waiting for...even the line changes. That said, if they are able to keep up that same intensity, then it is due to the isles really pushing them. If the pens move on and live up to their potential they need to look at this islander team and thank them. The Isles have made this an extremely fun series to watch. |

What cannot happen is the first goal- that's where the problem lies with this team. Crosby is going to bull his way to the net, with two smurfs playing defense. You give that team enough power plays, they are going to score. The goalie (even the best goalie, which ours is not) is going to give up a sh*t goal once in a while. But you CANNOT get caught up ice. If someone even has the IDEA in his head that he MIGHT put himself in a position to get caught up ice, then the coach isn't doing his job, IMO.
They played a perfect first period, exactly the way they had to, and then they got impatient. You CANNOT do that....everyone within 500 yards of the building would have been bored sh*tless, but the 2003 NJ Devils would have won that game, 2-0....one mistake by Pittsburgh, one empty net goal, and 59 minutes of dumping the puck down the ice. Defense- the great equalizer. This team needs to learn to play some at some point in the next 36 hours, or they'll be golfing by Sunday afternoon.
PS- seeing Vokoun last night, I have to wonder why Pittsburgh had that other jacka*s playing the goal in the first place....that almost looks like the "please play Ricky, because I'm paying him a lot of money" deal we had here for a few seasons... |

If nabby like he played in april to help us into playoffs. This series would over.
We don't have a backup plan for Nabby. While Poulin has been good in relief when nabby pulled he was challenged. By that point in game. Pens just played defense like they did in game 1.
What is more concerning is if Nielsen is hurt we are toast. B/c cappy should put bailey at center and then bring ullstrom in. But instead this idiot going to bring back REASONER TO FINISH US OFF IN THE SERIES.
Vokoun wasn't challenged but he did answer the call. That second nabby goal deflated team. Even though Kennedy scored isles were outplaying pens. Then when Vokoun stuffed jt and the Crosby buried one on nabby it was over.
Crappy should have pulled nabby after 3 goals. Not 4. |

Two breakaways, a power play goal, and flub. (Really, nabakov?)
These are GLARING Isles f ups. Can't happen. Against ANY team in the playoffs, much less these highly skilled Pens.
As for the great Vokoun, solving him is pretty simple....for other teams.
Get a guy in front of the net and KEEP him there. You need havoc in front of these bigger goalies and the isles don't play that way. They don't have a guy that will stand in there and get abused looking for rebounds. (Don't mention Moulson...please) |

I think this is going to Game 7 and we all know anything can happen at that point. Isles bounced back from the 5-0 loss and I think we will do the same on Saturday |

yes Vokoun was good tonight; tip of the cap. but for the most part he did not have to stand on his head..they need more traffic in front of him and more bodies heading towards the dirty areas and paint... time to regroup and let everything they have out for saturday.... |

garth needs to bring in a proven goalie in the offseason..i have no issues if nabby wants to be the backup... nilsson is a year away from challeneging so they need a 2 year plan... Also i am not enamored with Strait and Hickey they have both been exposed. They are fine when you are playing bottom feeders but they can not hang with elite forwards. |
