The Leafs started defending, and stopped trying. I seen them do it a lot this shortened season, and almost every time they started defending they lost the lead, and either lost the game in regulation, overtime or shootouts. Not to sound like a troll or anything, but Toronto beat themselves. They didn't play a full 60 minutes, it's as simple as that. Anyways good luck Boston. |

The Game 7 where the Flyers went down 3-0 in the 1st period only to win 4-3 after coming back in the series 3-0 was pretty "hmmm this is strange" worthy. I know you guys were on the opposite end of happy in this one, so it might not be the first thing that comes to mind.
Hell of a game last night. Perfect example of how sitting back to defend a lead, especially if you are a team that thrives on pushing the pace, is not the way to go. Leafs pushed the pace all game, skated quick and moved the puck quicker. |

Devastated Leaf fan here, Congrats to the Bruins - there are alot of positives to come out of the series from both teams. The Leafs ultimately lost the series in the faceoff circle. Full credit to the Bruins - if they stay healthy I can see a long playoff push ( I predict that the winner of the Rangers/Bruins series will win the Cup). |

As soon as the Laughs went up 4-1, they let off the gas. That crap might work during the regular season, but not during the playoffs. They got sloppy and lazy and haven't been to the big dance in a long time. B's have been there and know what it takes to close out a game and a series - and the cup - . In the playoffs, if you give someone an inch who has been down this road, they will take a mile and another. And another. The Leafs coach and players haven't been down this road, and they let off the gas. The team with the experience did exactly what they should have done and ripped the gas pedal off the floor and beat the other guys with it like a shoe.
Now the second question begins. Both NY and B's went 7. Injuries begin to take their toll on every team. How much heart and effort and soul was poured into that previous series. How much is left in the tank. Now it starts coming down to defense, and more importantly, can Rask or Lundqvist properly do what they get paid to do. The second round is where a team has to suck the life out of the other team to win.
That was a pretty epic effort by the Bruins. Play Jekyll and Hyde all season. That won't get them through the next round. Did they catch lightning in a bottle starting 2 minutes before then end of that third period? Can they play an ENTIRE 60 minutes like that? Can the Rangers star studded offense re-capture the magic? It's a brand new series. 4 wins, 12 to pour whatever everyone has left in and see where the pucks fall.
8 teams left. Only one will stand atop the mountain at the end.
Here we go. |

nice blog, ty. hat offs to the buds and welcome back.
no shame losing that way. b's scored two 6-5s against the sens awhile back. i don't remember if it was last year or the year before.
wonder if brad is in trouble for inciting the fans to throw the towels and for throwing the water bottle at the beginning of ot.
would like to see seids or redden back, but who knows. maybe johnson will step up like bart and dougie. |

Bart played a good game, Hamilton looked a little rookie-ish, maybe the pressure was getting to him, but wow, what a game.

Im still lost for words... Couldn't sleep a minute last night, woke up at 5am after going to bed at 330 and went to the gym to get some energy burned off.
Amazing comeback that I never knew the B's had in them, I'll be the 1st to admit I was cursing them, and female doghing on Twitter and thought they had blown it and was ready for heads to roll in the off-season.
Oh how wrong I was. Im amazed here still at 8am lol.
I will give credit to the Leafs, they are for real and they will get better and better as their youth learns from this, look what happened after the B's got shelled by Philly... Cup winner just 1 year later. Keep faith Leafs fans, there is a lot to look forward to in Leaf Land
I guess the Bergy doubters might quiet for a little while now, and was SO HAPPY to see Seguin do something productive, hopefully some confidence going up against probably the best Goalie in the world next rd.
Side Note - cant believe the B's id this with 5 dmen and 2 rookies... WOW

well, now you guys get to face a real goaltender.
All of you complained that Lundqvist was a Vezina finalist over Raask, time to prove that wrong.
Good luck.

Fantastic series, and as much as I feel terrible for the Leaf players for the loss, I can say there weren't many people giving the Leafs any shot against the B's, let alone taking them to OT in gm7...
Leafs gained a lot of valuable playoff experience, and Leafs Nation is proud...Bruins don't own the Leafs anymore.
Hopefully Leafs awoke the bear, and B's go on a run to the Cup... |

i still can't believe they won that game playing with 5 blueliners the entire game, no seids, and two rookies. that was my excuse when it went 4-1. |

Thank you bruins. you silenced the facebook world. The world filled with bandwagoner 'be-leafers'. I actually think that I would of cheered for the leafs as a canadian team had it not been for the beyond obnoxious fans. These fans whom are beyond clueless to the fundamentals of the game. |

Maybe its because he had a better save percentage and goals against. If anyone on the Bruins could score he'd have the wins too, that said, Reimer was awesome, I'm not any more worried about Lundquist than Reimer. |

but Lundqvist had about 200 more saves and 5 more wins, how do you explain that?
Please tell me the answer is that the Bruins played their BACKUP goalie more and he was just as good as Rask. Come on, go there. |

Hats off to the Bruins. I have to admit, I was pulling for them because of the obnoxious influx of Leaf fans who apparently already determined that Toronto won the Cup 2 weeks ago. I actually let out a scream when I turned it back on with 13 minutes to go and saw it was 4-1. Probably the (2nd) best game 7 I've ever seen. |

Good series Boston. I'm still proud of the leafs but in the end their rookie nerves were overcome by Boston's veteran desperation. Most of the leafs have never been in the playoffs, let alone a game seven trying to defend a lead, and when the intensity got ratcheted up and Boston started going all out they had no clue how to respond.
Regardless of the outcome this is a young team who's finally on the right path and Leafs fans have a true reason to look forward to next season.
The leafs also answered a lot of questions there were coming into the series and they now know:
-Reimer can play. Kid played his (frank)ing heart out, the loss is not on him
-Kessel can show up in big games
-Gardiner is for real
I'm excited for the off season to see what moves this team tries to make (if any, we're still a young team and need time to grow).
Good luck in Round 2, Bruins. I hope you run over New York. |
