Billy Tibbetts (for obvious reasons) and Marc Bureau (for damn near killing Petr Svoboda with one of the cheapest and most gratuitous blindside elbows I've ever seen -- totally unprovoked at that). |

Bill, of all the great blobs you have written, this one was the most enjoyable to read for me. Lots of great memories.

I'm with you on both. I was at the game and I seriously thought Svoboda was dead. it was horrible. |

agreed ... I couldn't believe it when Bureau ended up on the Flyers. Just sickening.
And I felt the same about Michel Petit, who basically tried to end Lindros' career in the playoffs while with TB. Two years later he's wearing orange and black.

The sens did not want to put Havlat on the ice. It seemed like the Flyers were going to keep fighting until the Sens had to put Havlat on the ice. The Sens found the perfect spot for him though. The penalty box serving a penalty for someone else. |

I have seen all the home brawls at the Spectrum and one of the scariest was the St Louis Blues players climbing into the stands to get the fans and I sort of felt sorry for the Seals Cummins when he wacked Clarkie in the head. |

I was at the Senators game with my wife. I think it was the only time she actually paid attention to what was going on rinkside.
Earlier in the same season on a post Christmas whim I took my son to this game:
So I got to see both Sens brawls that year. Both Birmingham goalies got tossed eventually but since Emery only got 10 minutes and the other goalie got a game, Emery came back into the net. Neither team had a bench left. |

I was at the game, fans were calling for his blood with about 5 minutes left and the Flyers well ahead. I still am not sure why the Senators went after Brashear. He fought Rob Friggin' Ray, then they sent our Chara and Neil (classy for whaling on a guy on his back) after Somik and Timander???
I'd add Ulf Samuelsson to the list of Flyers I just couldn't cheer for.
Also, if there any video of the Barry Cummins incident? I've never seen it. |

Exactly my two, Bill. I was so ticked when I heard Bureau was signed. Tibbetts I knew nothing about when he was acquired. 5 seconds after that, though, I felt the same as after the Bureau news. |

why all the billy hate - PhillaBully
In 1994 Tibbetts plead guilty to statutory rape of a 15 year old girl in 1992, when he was 17 years old.[1] His sentence was suspended for 42 months. However, in 1995, while on probation for the statutory rape case, Tibbetts was convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a BB gun), disorderly conduct and witness intimidation.[2][3] As a result, Tibbets served 39 months in prison;[4] the sentence on the assault and battery charges was 30 months, but it would be served concurrently with the previously suspended sentence for rape. As a result of the convictions, Tibbetts had to register as a sex offender and could not play games in Canada.
In addition, Tibbetts was also arrested in August 2007 for leading police on a high-speed car chase, not long after having led police on a different high speed chase earlier in 2007

Not here to defend Tibbets, but doesn't statutory rape have to be 3 years of separation? |

Great Job as always Bill! That Kings brawl was a preview to one of my favorite Homer moments the next year when he charges the melee to get at Holt after Holt is pounding 'The Rats' head into the ice. I think all that aggression he let out during his playing days is why he's so laid back now as GM.
