would be neat if wang offered Stepan an offer sheet for 7 years $4.9 per
that would send a message |

Dee I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you...first have been an Isles fan since day one...season tickets for decades...my take is one of the best parts of the the Isles/Rags games are the Rags fans being there...but I do agree there are always more Rags fans than one would wish...but then if Isles fans don't want to support the team with sellouts like years back, then what we see is what we get. The passion of both sides is truly second to none... |

Dee, no one in the Islanders organization would discuss this with you because it is seriously the dumbest idea you have had, and you've had more than a handful.
The Islanders are not a team that sells out every night, for the most part, the only games that have had a chance of selling out have been the games against the Rangers, and basically you are asking the team to stop those sellouts as well.
The reality is that even last year's Ranger games at the Coliseum there were still tickets available day of the game.
Ughhhh, Dee, you make your own bed with the ridicule on this blog. |

Even Islander players have said in the past they love the atmosphere in Ranger/Isles games at the Coliseum BECAUSE of both fans being there, the extra intensity. As a Ranger fan I like the games there much more than at the Garden because of the vibe.
There is often too many drunks & things get out of hand on BOTH sides but the game last April, the 1-0 OT game was a classic, fans at least where I was seated were great & it felt like a playoff game. |

It's not discrimination, it's capitalism. I'm not a fan of the move and I think it doesn't make Nashville look great as a fan base, but I understand the point. Many other teams target games by raising prices and/or having tiers of prices. This approach just targets the opposing fans rather than the Preds fan base. Really doesn't change much anyway, IMO. In the days of second market tickets it will only be marginally harder or more expensive for the Hawks fans to get tickets. |

Agreed. One of the most enjoyable games I've every watched. Period. |

The Sens tried this for the Leafs games and it did not work out well for them. |

when you are a team that fills 99.2 % of capacity like Nashville did in the 24 home games of the 2013 season, you can do things like this.
The Islanders filled 82.3 % of capacity in the Coliseum, so it probably isn't in their best interests to tell anybody that aren't allowed to buy a ticket, no matter who they root for

Wang may not like Ranger fans in the Coliseum, but he also doesn't like losing money. Ranger games are guaranteed sell-outs because Ranger fans attend. The Islander heirarchy isn't as stupid as most think. They would never create any promotion that could possibly limit ticket sales.
Like someone else already posted, if Isles' fans attended games at better than 60-70% capacity, there likely wouldn't be many tickets for Ranger fans to get for the rivalry games. CW has to make money somehow. Starting a promotion that actually discourages ticket sales won't make CW $$. |

No doubt Jethro, as entertaining a 1-0 game as you can get. Fans on the edge of their seats, great, great saves by both Henrik & Nabakov all night long. I got those tickets as a gift & ended up being one of the better games I've ever been too. Rangers winning helped too. |

It certainly seems to be a trend ( I believe St Louis has also instituted - or will - the same policy as Nashville) - Zogg
But it makes no sense in this situation as others have said. Its silly. Besides, there's only the 1 game on Oct 29 at the Coliseum between the 2 teams this yr anyway. |

I wonder what the fan split will be at the Islanders "home" winter classic game vs the Rangers? |

Isles/Rangers games are a great rivalry and honestly like someone mentioned, bc the Isles have stunk, no one went....who really cares about who/which fans attend games. Now that the Isles are becoming a better team, we shall fill up more of the arena, but if not, you want to penalize a fan for trying to see their team.
That's what being a fan is all about, no matter where your team plays or who they play against, if a fan is able to attend a game of any city, state, that's great for them and great for the game of hockey....
Best game so far Isles/Pens all out brawl.... |

This. It only works if the fans are willing to shell out the money. Kind of like how Phillies and Mets fans would always invade Nationals games, and the National tried their "Tale the Park Back" promotion. It didn't change jack, until the Nationals got good last year. |
