I don't see any comments from Meehan in the article you linked, just that he responded to a message via emial but couldn't comment.

I agree with your predictions/line combos.

I think it will be interesting to see if Jaskin continues to play center as they tried him at in Traverse City; at camp and in the AHL.

I don't like the Blues depth on defense, even with Petro, beyond their top 7. Hopefully a prospect steps up, but otherwise I think we need a Woywitka type #8 to be in Peoria mostly but capable call up for if we have 2 guys go down with injuries. I'm not expecting Whitney to agree to that type of contract.

Ok, I am getting frustrated now. I know it is not the end of the world to miss some camp, but Petro & the Blues need to get a deal done quickly.

This better not drag into the regular season.

D.A. was on the radio this afternoon and said Tarasenko benched 305.

I feel a lot better about our D-depth after today. I saw Hakanpaa in Peoria at the end of last year and thought he looked great. Today, he looked even better. The kid is going to be a beast. I'm not sure I'd be happy with him in a regular role today, but I have no concerns about him being our 8th. I thought Whitney would end up in CAR but apparently they signed Hainsey today so that door may be closed.

The worst thing to happen to Alex Pietrangelo in his contract negotiations this week was the play of Kevin Shattenkirk in camp today. He looked like a guy that is ready to seize the 1st pairing slot and not give it up. I think in some ways his play has been better and more mature that Petro, but he hasn't had the level of responsibility yet playing the toughest minutes. That would seem to be the only thing missing from his resume.

Jeff, I agree with you about Ponich. He has been unimpressive to this point in the AHL and looked absolutely out of place today. His ride may be over.

Haven't seen much of Hak, but that's good to hear. I also liked hearing Hitch's comment that Cole was our best D today... I know he is taking a long time, but I still think he can be a good player for us.

So basically the Blues management got smart and sign Pietrangelo long term at 6.5 mil a year, and forgo the "bridge contract idea" and tie him up for seven years.

You are not in a position to play games with a skinflint company line, when you have a players who truly has the capability of being an elite all around defender for a long time.

If Piet was still in that on the job training phase, where deficits and weakness were being worked on, they yes, you stick with the bridge idea.

I would have had his name on the dotted line wit this deal in July before anyone else.

We can now welcome the Blues management to the era where every other player's re-up and all new acquistions are tied directly to trying to suit a lineup of players in each upcoming year. Each move (and necessary subtractions) becomes more closely tied to the Cap, and you end up forced to make moves you don't necessarily wish you had to.

Every new upcoming contract is on the GM's mind far before it is close to ending...

How? He wouldn't accept anything without a 7 in front of it in July.
