Not that I'm sold on Steve Mason, but the Flyers trading for Ryan Miller reeks of dumb. They have more needs than a 30 year old, soon to be UFA goalie who will eat up $6mm in cap room. |

Not surprised to hear the Oilers are looking for a D-Man. I agree with you that the Isles trade is really risky, especially if they really don't have any idea on whether or not Vanek might re-sign. I doubt he'll re-sign if he hits the first week of July as a UFA. |

Ding Ding Ding...you are correct sir....I am not nearly as stubborn about dealing coots or schenn anymore, but honestly for a goalie with all the cap baggage as Miller and Mason is playing pretty well...the idea of Miller to the Flyers makes zero sense...

I'm sure the Isle's and Vaneks agent will be in talks soon as the Isle's have to act quickly...if Vanek and JT develop a chemistry and they produce big numbers I can't see why Vanek wouldn't consider signing an extension especially if Snow makes a move for a goaltender and a d-man. Is he willing to take less to go to Minnesota? He won't have a center of JT's caliber in Minny. Time will tell whether it's about winning or being close to home. |

I think you are incorrect, mostly because I want Coutourier.
Think you could also dump cap on us. |

He may have the best C option in JT, but the overall line combo in Minny of Vanek - Koivu - Pominville or Parise - Koivu - Vanek would be much more appealing IMO. |

If there's a player on the Sabres the Flyers should be after, it's Erhoff. |

I agree there. I would think the price would be pretty hefty though. He has a great cap hit(4MM) and is signed long term with half of the salary already being paid (18 of the 40mm) |

Yeah, it's definitely not something that Reiger would part with cheaply. It's not that Miller's not a good goalie, but the Flyers are getting solid play from Mason. If that lasts, he's cheaper and younger than Miller & honestly, if Miller's out there this summer, why trade an asset for him now, when the Flyers aren't a serious contender? |

Oh I agree, Miller to Philly makes little sense. It would shock me if he were to end up there, and I cant imagine many Philly fans who would be overly joyed. |

If Mason does stumble, then Miller would definitely be a good target in FA...As well as Mason has played, it's hard to be fully sold on him. |

Philly trading Couturier for Miller makes no sense, but I certainly wouldn't complain if it happened! |

As I've said in this space twice now, Vanek really wants to play with the Minnesota Wild, and from a very good source of mine, he plans to test Unrestricted Free Agency. - Josh Rimer
Josh, what are the chances the league investigates tampering if Vanek signs in Minnesota? Not to say there is tampering, but with the majority of the national hockey media reporting this early that Vanek is likely to sign in Minnesota, is it just a forgone conclusion that the league will need to make sure it's on the up and up? |

Word is that Buffalo and Edmonton were working on a deal involving Miller, but that he refused to waive his NTC. - Tsyolin
If by working on a deal you mean Mact making one phone call then I guess about 20 other teams were all working on deals too.
There is zero chance of Miller in Edmonton. Its just Regier blowing smoke to try to up the price. |

Scuderi is now out for a LONG time (broken ankle) so the Pens are not likely to trade a defenseman. If they do, it'd only happen because they have such a huge stable of prospects and the offer is too good to refuse. Given Niskanen is an UFA this summer, that's unlikely. |

Well you can call that is a smoke screen if you want, but Miller doesn't even have a NTC. |

Uh, yes he does. A limited NTC in which he can list 8 teams he won't accept a trade to. And Edmonton is on it. |
