Did not get the game here in Ontario but I saw the horrible non-call on Buff for the one Flames goal. Pisses me off that they call a ticky tack little hook that barely breaks a players stride and then miss obvious calls. I thought two referee's were supposed to have more vision on the ice. |

Would you like some cheese with your whine. Very entertaining game. Run and gun just like the old days, and i gotta say the Jets spent as much time sitting on Berra in his crease as the Flames did Montoya. As for the pick on Buf, ya it happened, and yes it's against the rules, but if you've ever watched any hockey at all, you've likely seen it at least once in every game that's ever been played and guess what?... the refs never call it... |

they should start. The bar that apparently has been set is ridiculously low and is ruining the game. If it was a shot on goal and Monty saved it, then whatever, but it was blatant interference and they scored.
Some keep me in the loop when they find out how much the refs were paid off.

Easy for you to say, your team was the one that won what poopty officiating, sucks for the Jets that they had to lose to crappy Calgary |

Give credit to the Flames.... For a team with no "real" talent they stayed with the jets and won the game. This game was great to watch and both teams got a point. Pete you sound so bitter.... Broadcasters on TSN jets said they had never heard the MTS centre so loud... Great game, fans got their money's worth with lots of drama and a nice new rivalry could be born. |

I would love to see one of the stats gurus show the correlation between whining about the officiating and the whiner's team having lost the game.
My guess is it would be over 95%. |

By making the story about a huge key issue of the game- the officiating it was whining?
I didn't check the responses or quotes from the Flames players but if they made comments about it is this still whining?
There is no shot towards the Flames as are they any worse than the Jets? This was about a key storyline, one that dominated much of the game.
I don't believe I alluded to the officiating determining the outcome of the game and it may not have... but it was part of the game.
And complaing about the Jets sitting on Berra? What about the elbow he gave Buff in OT as the D man chased the play behind the net. Or the two punches he gave Ladd in the back after Ladd got up from being crosschecked earlier.
Flames played their game, and came out with two points- nothing against them but ignoring the officiating it like saying a game with 9 goals only had 2 that mattered.

That was an amazing back and forth game reminiscent of the 90's. I don't think a couple ticky tack ccalls or non calls should overshadow it. Most entertaining game I have seen all year. However, Bouma did not run the goalie...note how he didn't lose his stride. Montoya came way out, over challenged, got a love tap due to forward momentum and then burned.
Buff essentially got a 2m penalty for singlehandedly starting a skirmish that lasted forever, and would not let go, of 2 ppl. How is he not called for a penalty.
I will give you two: the ot call (which was with only 30 sec left) was unnecessary. The Little misconduct....um lol you have serious beef with that one. That is a joke.
Either way, this should be the start of a great rivalry. Was extremely physical and the MTS was bonkers after the tying goal. They beat Calgary's often library feeling in that regard. Cheers! |

Didn't Buff start the end of period scrum with an after the whistle hit ? I suspect that's why they gave him the extra two. |

The Jets should have won that game. They made a mediocre goaltender look like Ken Dryden at times. Montoya flopping around like a seal on that Hudler goal. And...they lost their cool. Little taking a 10 minute misconduct at the end of OT and thus eliminating himself from the shootout was just a dumb selfish move.
On last thing....Kane needs to stop whining to the refs everytime he's touched. |

I think you should give us three - the 'pick and roll' used on Buff to score the shorthanded goal would have made Karl Malone and John Stockton proud but since this isn't basketball it was a missed interference call that led directly to a goal. If the call was made it would have been a two man advantage for the Jets instead of a shorthanded goal. Not exactly ticky tack in my books. |

You'll always have games that "you should have won". Its a useless argument. What goes around... I guarantee the Jets will be on the positive side of calls at some point this year...
The thing I noticed on a couple of plays and in particular the Buf pick (and it was), was rather than trying to get back in the play, he threw his hands up, stopped skating and looked at the refs.
Agree with you on Kane though, watched a few Jets games and man that kid doesn't shut up. Have to say, if you guys ever feel the need to dump Ladd, ya we'll take him... great player! |

Kerry Fraser offers his unbiased opinion on the officiating last night on TSN lending quite a bit of credibility to Peter's analysis. |

On the Buff pick, I don't think he had time to get back in the play. Came back with a vengence though....jesus...he was gonna score that goal no matter what.
Yeah, Kane has become a bit of a baby. He whines a lot right now...and I think the Refs are getting sick of it. He doesn't seem to get a lot of breaks with the calls. He's still pretty young and he seems to be maturing off the ice...he needs to do the same on this ice.
BTW...I meant they should have won despite the refereeing. It was there own fault they lost. |

Still trying to figure out what the (frank) that graph represents. |

Agreed about Kane, he needs to start letting his play do his talking for him instead of chirping the officials. Its time to stop talking about him in terms of potential and start questioning the results. And I don't get the graph either. |
