Well, Dubnyk clearly needs to feel like his job is at risk!
I was just crunching the numbers and it's a significant difference. Dubnyk has a season GAA of 3.31, but his GAA since signing Bryz (last 7 games) is 2.5 *
Dubnyk SV% for the season is 89.2, but since BRyz it's 91.6 *
* (The season avergaes include his improved performance of late.)
Prior to Bryz's signing, Dubnyk had only 1 game with a GAA of 2.5 or better and only 2 games with a SV% 91.6 or better.
I don't think this is a coincidence. |

Dubnyk can't be solely trust with the #1 position without giving hmi solid competition. i believe he played so well because he wanted to rpovde he was #1 instead of Khabi. But now that he was given it, he didn't do so well. Bringing in Bryz does exactly that, gives Dubnyk the solid competition. |

Anyone think that htere is a chance that MacT looks at moving Gagner and making Arcobello our ipso facto #2 centre? |

I think he'd want to replace the 2c with a bigger, more physical guy.
but if he had a shot at a package for the dman we so desperately need or the winger with size, and it had to be gagner going, he better fuking consider arco there.
arco @ 2C and quality two way dman >>>>>>gagner |

ive always wondered about this.
I think it's alot like 'they wanted it more'. doesn't really make sense.
so dubnyk is TRYING harder because we have another goalie in the mix?? how can this be? we've given him 3.5 million reasons to try hard every game. and if he wants to keep making that kind of money, he'll try hard every fuking game.
I agree that bryz might give the oilers another solid option and we now have the luxury of benching dubs for multiple games if he plays poorly. but that's good for us, I never really understood the whole competition thing. or why this makes goalies play better.
im not calling you out, just wondering if it would be possible to find some real statistical evidence of this |

For a team that told Arcobello to find a permanent home in Edmonton, they sure aren't playing him much. |

I can pull statistical evidence that shows Dubnyk taking a while to find his game every year. Guy seems to just be a slow starter. |

Considering how well he's played this year it's baffling. |

I've had some decent conversations with some of you, but this stuff is not why I came here. I did let some of you get under my skin too much and I lashed out and got a bit personal so I'm just going to go. I only have so many free hours per night to "talk hockey" so I thought I'd lurk on this board a while ago and then I eventually started posting myself. Given my previous experience with the game I thought I'd lend a few insights.
In my daily life, no one speaks to me the way some of you do and I'm just not used to it. In hindsight, I guess I dealt with it poorly. I used to be the one to end the battles on the ice, and now I am the one who ends them in the boardroom, but I realize that this is an entirely different forum. On the internet, I can't reach you physically and I cannot beat you financially so I just get frustrated at the personal comments. People do not treat me this way.
