If DeBoer wants to keep playing Volchenkov, he should buy him a compass so he can find his way around the ice.
The Devils know they may have a gem here and I don't think they want to risk ruining him.
They may want to think about getting rid of PDB then. |

Yeah, because he's handling Gelinas and Merrill terribly. |

I think A-train gets bought out in the summer. Either him or Salvador, but I think he is more likely. We already have Greene, Gelinas and Merrill on the left side + 1 of those two. Someone will have to shift over of course but I don't see how both of those guys stay. Only need one to play bottom pairing and on the PK. A-train has too many years left and is too expensive. |

I could see Pete moving him around a lot and putting him with the wrong guys. |

Boucher was nothing short of stellar last night, nearly had one slip through Budaj's 5-hole too. If only Lokti could play like he did last night, every night.
Zidlicky I'm sure got an ear full when he got back to the bench, that was common sense to keep the puck down and he puts it 5 feet in the air within 15 feet, absolutely terrible and he needs to go. He is enough of a liability on his own, then he goes and about takes out our best player on a stupid shot, like most of his are, most hit a defenders skate 3 feet in front of him.
We outplayed Montreal last night, and should have taken this one twice, after the 2-1 lead then again with 66 seconds left..
We better bring our game Friday and Saturday. Curious, Marty or Cory which night.. |

This isn't as much a critque of how he is handling Gelly, but he refuses to put him on the PP with Jagr and Elias it is infuriating. He cries and whines about getting goals and the PP going but uses Ryder on the unit 1 and Zajac at the point...I just don't get it. Gelly has 2 less pts than the great Zidlicky who has played in close to 10 games more and starts every PP and is out there for over a minute. |

Not like he has played much better at center. Still is doing nothing offensively, guy needs to produce. |

Everyone needs to produce he is at least creating chances and plays in every situation. Can't blame his lack of production on him when no one else is producing. Jagr even has slowed down. |

I honestly think it will be brunner that ends up getting bought out. |

This is why we need a better LW. Boucher is a start but I'd like to add someone with a bit more experience. |

That would be really stupid, really can't see it happening. At 1 year 2.5 million left he can easily be traded. I don't see how A-train or Sal don't get bought out with the emergence of Gelinas and Merrill. LD side is deep, can't have 5 lefties. |

Exactly. Wouldn't hurt to have a franchise center either. Like a Seguin/Duschene/JT/Nuge/Huberdough/Barkov/. Obviously it takes losing to get guys like that but at the same time how nice would it be we don't have anyone who looks like they will be on the level of these guys. |

I don't think the organization thinks highly of him and I could see lou choosing him over buying out his captain. Not saying its smart, but I could see him doing it. He used the other free buyout on Hedberg, I don't think Brunner would be a stretch. I don't think there is much of a market for him either. No one was really willing to give him a look in the offseason and he's done nothing to make anyone regret their decisions. |

But if you can trade him for anything it is likely better then a complete buy out as we get nothing for that. I also think we should be trying to trade Salvador when he is healthy. Our team has moved on this season with out Clowe and Salvadore. I think A-train should be bought out or given away if possible then trade Salvador and Brunner and pray Clowe never sees the ice again so we don't have to have him on the cap. Zid needs to be moved at the deadline for whatever he can fetch I would assume he would get a second at the very least or a B prospect. Have Larsson,Gelinas, Merril,Greene,Fayne,Harrold as our D going forward and we should be more then ok cap wise and skill wise. If we need to upgrade a piece like Harrold sign a depth guy in free agents but no more plucking guys we are going to rely heavily on from there. Then next year move Ryder at the deadline and Tedenby and JJ or Loktionov as by that time next year they will have figured out what they are and might as well get something for them and try again. |

Brunner got a tryout from us after training camp started. He's since played pretty terrible and gets benched regularly by DeBoer. The only teams I could see taking him are ones that are looking to reach the cap floor. |

Yes but if the cap didn't drop by like 7 million he might of been signed a lot quicker. There might have been plenty of interest in him but not if it ment moving someone to make room for him. If the cap goes up which it should then he might be a more tradable asset. There might be a team out there who plays a run and gun style that he would likely do better in. Or a team might need to clear some cap I would take on the extra cap of Hemskey for Brunner. Not sure if this is Hemskeys last year or not but if so they still get some cap relief this year and a player who plays a similar style for a lot less and we get another guy who is capable of prudcing and setting others up. (frank) I would even move him for Havlat if the dollars where good and it didn't put us over. |

If MacKinnon's available for the right defenseman, Larrson or Merrill for MacKinnon?

I believe this is Hemsky's last year. Wouldn't mind that, he could actually play with Elias instead of standing around waiting for Elias to make room for him.

Love your thinking but I mean I think it would take a player of Subban's caliber to move him and If that wasn't the case Lou likely would of made that trade to move up to draft him this past summer. |

Both of those guys are Czech so they fit the mold and Havlat is actually one of Elias' best friends. I think he could stay healthy and produce in the east where it's not as rough. |
