Bishop's just excellent at what he does. Conacher and a 4th. Oh boy. |

starting to think if yzerman makes a deadline move for a stud defenseman the lightning can take a run at the cup ? who could that defenseman be ? |

The thing with that is that Yzerman doesn't like to part with pics or prospects. So what are you willing to give up on the roster currently to get a quote "stud defenseman"? |

Back then I thought the price was hefty. But now the way things are, I'd new admit that. Never.

Bishop is really amazing, one of the great stories in the NHL this year. And to think I questioned the trade when it happened, thinking they should have gotten a more established veteran back-up, and wondered if 2 unproven younger guys was the right way to go. Boy, has he shown me, and everybody else! Lucky for Tampa Bay that Bishop was the odd man out in Ottawa ( and St. Louis) and good for Yzerman for grabbing him at a great price. |

Let's not forget this is a " transition " year and people are talking about a cup run already , that tells you something about Jon cooper and this team .. There will be no trades to make a cup run ..everything that's happening right now is just a huge unexpected bonus on top of all the development with key pieces leading the way ... We don't need to trade ! |

What no love for Bugsy? He played one helluva game last night, glad to see him chipping in some tough work on the boards all night. Boy has the opposition beat up Killorn the last two nights , they sure had him in their sights. I love reading all the Rags fans crying over the penalty call, weak maybe but everyone gets them, I think the idea is to kill them off rather than cry about them and their justification that it was only a 9 second gap that lost them the game. I guess they're used to Henrik too much because he's been stealing games for them for years but another goalie can't play lights out and be the difference. Home for 4 out of the next 5 time to put up some points heading into the Olympic break. We were all looking for this team to play .500 til Stammer came back, I for one didn't think we could play this well with him out.

No one. I think we are a little small up front with all the kids a year or two away from filling out with fitness training. Wait and see what this group looks like in a year or two, it'll be amazing adding strength to all that speed.

Damn, everyone's stealing my tweet.
Malone has been playing a bit better, but how much longer until he sneezes and is injured for another 4-6 weeks? |

Nice writeup, Mike!
Nobody wanted to listen this offseason when i insisted in a few threads the lightning would be a top team in the division this year, but here we are! And all without Stammer for months.
Very impressive squad Stevie Y made up here, hoping this bodes well for his olympic team makeup even though I disagreed with some of it.
My division prediction for the four playoff spots were:
Boston
Tampa
Ottawa
Montreal
with Detroit and Toronto just missing. Looking quite possible now!

you just did
Nahhh, Bishop is awesome, sort of wish we had moved Anderson when he was at peak value and let the two young studs battle it out for crease time, but hey, our goaltending still isn't a problem and Conacher has been really coming on since he got paired with Zibanejad. |

I'd sort of like to see Marty get another cup, but he'll probably play two more years anyway, ageless wonder that he is, so there's lots of time. |

for sure, and his 7 goals could be 15 just as easily, he has a breakaway every game! sometimes 2 |

If St. Louis was younger (let's say 35) in two or so years that'd be the most frightening top-9 if everybody kept their trajectory and they could afford them. |

Bishop stays back and waits for the offensive player to make the move, its crazy how long he will wait too... I think in his mind he knows how big he is so if he doesn't make the move the net is pretty much blocked anyway.
Kucherov finally scored on his breakaway and broke that 0-fer he had doing it, this is a good thing he has confidence and will continue to play well.
Hedman is making the Tre Kronor look stupid, more so the Canada and Marty.
Malone is playing great in his new role, even Pyatt and Panik had good games. |
