I really like Stastny but to call him underrated is not accurate. The guy makes $6.6M/year.
How much do you think he will command? Any way he takes less than he's currently making? |

Boy, I don't know. I could see him secretly pining away to return home to St. Louis.

open market he probably would go for 6m again. Resigning him at a hometown discount, I hope to get him bw 5.2-5.6m |

Matching Stastny and O'Reilly deals could be a legitimate possibility. |

If you can lock up Stastny, O'Reilly, Landeskog and Duchene long term with no one over 6m, thats a pretty good core and good use of cap management. |

I think as a player he is underrated as far as everything he does on the ice. He is currently over paid but that has nothing to do with his skills as a player. I think the Avs could get him for around 5 something on a long term deal but on the open market he could get at least 6 |

I mean I guess you guys could go after him as an upgrade over Roy but Colorado is as much of a home as St.louis is and personally I wouldn't chose that city over Denver in a million years. Also if you look at the past few FA's I dont see STL out bidding some of the other teams that would go after him |

That would be obnoxious and a Chicago-level of cap brilliance |

The only thing Bourque would be good for would be for warming benches. Can we not put him in trade proposals. The only reason he would be there would be for cap reasons and if so the Avs better be getting the better end of the deal for eating his cap hit. As it stands any team that takes bourque off of MTL's hands would be doing them a huge solid considering he will be bought out at the end of the season anyways. |

It's possible, but a lot of that hinges on RoR's decision to do so. If it were to happen then the Avs could be a serious Stanley Cup threat very soon. |

If we could get Stastny at 5.2, that would be a steal. Steen just got 5.8, Thornton at 6.7 and Marleau at 6.6. So that would be market value if he was int that range of 5.8-6.7 range.
Landy is at 5.5, so if O'Reilly signs around 5.6m too, consider it a very success offseason to get all those guys |

The future looks bright. I just think you guys need a couple experienced defensemen. |

I think RoR will be between 5.5-6 for sure if we do resign him, if talks struggle but the Avs resign him we could see a 6 mil deal for a shorter term but if they go well you might see something such as 5.8 for a longer term.
Stastny I could see between 5.4-5.6 ish on a long term deal only with a NTC. Stastny is most closely comparable to Thornton and if you prorate it for points its works our about right. |

We could use 1 or 2. Bigras looks like the real deal and if any of Barrie/Elliot/Siemens turn out well then the Avs should be set for a while. Hejda will need be replaced but besides the 1 or 2 holes on D the rest is just tinkering with the line up however Roy wants it. Duchene and Landy taking those deals really set up this team to be in a good spot.
Although I am REALLY worried about this years trade deadline, poop could hit the fan pretty quick and this team could be very different by March 5th |
