pete deboer is just a symptom, the real diease with this team is lou lamerillio. when does his credit for pre lockout championships run out. he hasn't drafted worth a damn in 10 years. his trades have been to bring in washed up players and think they are going to find the fountain of youth in new jersey. anybody who can actually score on a consistent basis leaves this team like rats on a sinking ship because they want to get paid, and lou turns a blind eye to those guys. can we also stop with the bull poop of lou going out and getting some scoring. lou has no desire to improve this team and doesn't care about losing the top 10 pick. he knows his second round pick will be somewhere between 33 and 37. second round picks make less money. this team will not improve until they hire a real GM instead of an bean counter.

The problem is that our lineup is littered with mediocre talent.

When Harrold and Salvador are held accountable the same way Larsson Merrill and Gelinas are then Deboer isn't the problem. All the kids are fighting for a couple shifts and they make one mistake and they're benched, scratched and sent to the A. Deboer IS the problem when it comes to our youth.

I agree that he shouldn't be fired but I also don't think he should be free of any blame. The team has never been able to hold leads under DeBoer, even with Parise and Kovy. Even this year where he doesn't have the most talented roster I still can't help but put some of the blame on him for the blown leads and some of the other problems this year. He's too content with being average.

All in all the Devils haven't drafted too poorly, just a few misses in the first round, really just Tedenby and JJ, but we've gotten some gems in round 2 and 3.

You really need to clean house....lou needs to go. The team is devoid of moveable assets that will bring back enough to retool enough going forward.

We don't need much to retool. We need some young forwards and that's it really. Its not that we don't have players to move, its whether Lou will actually move them or make a move for a scorer.

lets take a look at lou's draft post lost season. 2003 parise, now question best pick in the last decade, no scoring for minnesota, lou didn't want to pay. rest of draft class NOTHING. 2004 zajac. nice player, 2nd or 3rd center, rest of draft class NOTHING. 2005 nick berfors, BUST with multiple teams. 5th round pick mark fayne, number 6 defenseman at best. 2006 matt corrente BUST, nothing from rest of class even in system. 2007 mike hoeffel career minor leaguer, 4th round matt halischuk, 4th liner in nashville. 2008 mattis tedenby BUST. adam henrique taken in 3rd round. 2009 jacob joefson BUST eric gelinas taken in second round, possible lou's best pick since parise. 2011 adam larsson hasn 't shown to be NHL caliber yet. jury still out. 2012 stephan matteau, still waiting 2013 lost pick once scheinder signs somewhere else. 2014 lost pick. not exactly an impressive resume.

Also go and look at other teams drafts. You make it seem like we're the only team that doesn't draft well in the first. That's why it's great that our later rounds have panned out.

This is how I feel now too. I don't want Pete fired anymore and i'm one of his biggest haters. But to simple absolve him of blame just cause he doesn't have the greatest personnel is garbage. He doesn't put players in the best position to succeed and is way to hard on the young guys especially when the Vets have played as bad as they have. This team needed to start getting more serious and harder on themselves at the 25-35 game mark not two weeks before the Olympics.

Time like these, when everything looks bleak, I just remind myself at least we aren't Edmonton or Calgary fans. We're all talking about the sky falling cause we're gunna miss the playoffs two years in a row. Imagine if we had to endure what they do.
