Meltzer: Team Sweden: Day 1: Fast Start Enough to Hold off Czechs

This is the first Olympic where I'm more of an NHL-fan than 'country'-fan and it was a bit weird seeing Voracek trying to score on Lundqvist, and being supposed to cheer for Lundqvist. That's what I get for being a Swedish Flyers-fan I guess. Sure makes it worse that there's no Flyers in Tre Kronor. At least last WC there was Gustafsson. But it's really nice to have both Karlsson and OEL on your team, considering what kind of player Flyers really need.

I was really unimpressed by Sweden defensively. I know it's the first game, but if they don't tighten up they're going to get owned by the top tier teams.

I can't believe they actually picked 1-goal Erat and Grandpa Nedved over those two. And not starting Pavelec against the Swedes?! Some very questionable decision-making by the Czech brass thus far..
