Heard a few Scandinavians griping about the officials...
brutal.
The fact of the matter is that the officials will likely be harder on Canada just to show no impartiality.
It has happened before.
Hopefully they sit back and let the teams play and only call penalties on plays where a scoring chance is negated due to a penalty.
and to Foppa... go sit down and watch with your fragile ankles up on a pillow. |

There is no reason they couldn't have at least 1 person who isn't based in Canada. Would have avoided the problem all together. |

couldnt agree more, seemed a very simple solution. i believe the officials should be neutral or at least more balanced then this. i wouldnt be too impressed if i was on team Sweden. |

no mattef who was in the finals, that's who the refs were gonna be. according to friedman, i think it was him, the nhl only allowed its players to go if the games were called by nhl refs. forsberg, and every other person involved in this tournament knew with certainty that almost all the refs were going to be canadian or american. to whine the way he is is like spitting in the face of guys who, i have no doubt, make it a point to be impartial......it's their job, these guys are pros.
i like forsberg, but in this case he just sounds like an ass.......whining about something everyone already knew coming into the games |

Karlsson has been amazing. Lundqvist has been good but not a difference maker.
Still think most observers have not figured out that the Euros know how to play Canada and the US on the big ice in big games. I don't think Sweden will blow out Canada, but I think Canada will encounter some of the same big ice issues that has befuddled the US today (currently 5-0 with 6:50 left). |

Wow since they played their first game I have thought Sweden has been one of the most over rated teams in this tournament. The officials won't be what causes the Swedes to lose it will be the top to bottom depth of the Canadian roster. |

“ The main factor of the selection of these officials has most of all to do with their experience officiating in high-level competitions,” said Komissarov. “These include Stanley Cup playoffs, World Championship competitions, and Olympic competitions."
“Their nationalities aren’t considered as factors nor should they be, we want the best officials working the medal games,” he added. “We are fully confident that with their experience and professionalism these officials will do their job well and preserve the integrity of the game.”
The decision was confirmed at the IIHF Directorate Meeting on 21 February, with team officials from all four teams present and in complete agreement with the selection.

Team SWE officials had no problem agreeing yesterday before the games where played..
Maybe Forsberg should have checked with them before complaining..Makes them look silly.. |

Exactly. Sweden is scared and already coming up with excuses.

Forsberg is an id!ot. All these refs are established pros, there to do a job. They didn't get to be NHL refs (also known as the best refs in the world) by being bias at any point. The refs reputation are on the line as well...Im willing to bet the first penalty goes to Canada too.
It would be the least of my concerns if I am Sweden. |

"Sweden"? So if (or when, rather) Don Cherry makes some stupid remark, that's in fact Canada being stupid?
Bottom line is that those actually playing couldn't care less. Karlsson and Oduya have already stated that whining about biased refs is silly and a waste of time. So let's move on, shall we?

Meltzer: Team Sweden: Three Keys for the Three Crowns, Forsberg Gripes - B.Meltzer
the genuinely humorous part of this entire "commentary" is a Swedish player (or ex-player in this case) commenting on officiating bias "for Canada"...
an experienced guy like Forsberg simply knows better... or perhaps some of these simply take the hype around themselves too seriously.
