Sounds like Ottawa is definitely going to be making a trade before the TDL. - Nucker101

Gillis should have stepped in and c0ckblocked torts from screwing over luo. what planet is this management on? You signed him for the rest of his professional career to a difficult contract and then you can't even make him look good if you want to trade him. In this case it doesn't matter about the next 2 points - it matters about the next 200 and how you are going to get them with a goalie that hates the organisation.
Aquaman has got to fire Gillis after this season no matter what. Torts can go too as he is an idiot - not just for last night but also for his locker room storming session with the Flames. |

Why all the sympathy for a guy who signed a set-for-life contract & went on to be outplayed by his younger backup every season since? Honest question... |

Anyone interested in a trade today... need to move a center or depth defenseman for a draft pick... Visnovsky, hejda, E. Lindholm, Clowe. Other then that I would be interested in a 2 for 1.... I would be open to other bench players just has to be the right deal.

Who knows what is going on in Torts' head? or what has been said between him and Gillis?
If you look at the season so far, I don't think goaltending has been a real issue. Scoring has been the issue for much of the year.
Is it part of Torts' job to ask for more offensive players? Does he name players he would want Gillis to target?
I want to see some players step up, but can't see it happening without some change/trade.

I have no problem with lack starting that game. Not sure why people are screaming for lu when he hasn't plaid lights out or anything. Not like he has stolen us a game in how long? Why should we have sympathy for anyone on this team... If players are getting beat by younger players then great. Step your game up or sit. Why is that a bad thing?

Because he has been first class all the way through a very bad situation even if he is set for life.
I am also not sure he has been outplayed in every season. He should have finished the LA series in my opinion, and this all kinda started then.
The reality is management has not managed anything - he or Cory should have been separated long before that happened. Lack is a ROOKIE, and the org just put "all that other stuff" behind them. |

Aquilini is to blame for this. He has continued to trust Gillis, who has screwed things up time and time again. Bad drafts, bad trades and the best players are still the leftovers from the Burke/Nonis era. Gillis cannot be trusted at this trade deadline and should be fired right away. I would rather the team do nothing at the deadline than let this fool run the show. Unless it's Aquilini calling the shots. Maybe Aquilini wants to be the next Harold Ballard. He owns a hockey team, but is too insecure to allow a real hockey man to run the team because he doesn't want to be shown up. |

It p!sses me off that media is saying the fans took out their frustrations on Lack by chanting Luo. Ron Wilson and DC had the right idea saying they were voicing their displeasure toward Torts and MG. Well no sh!t. I hate guys like PJ calling the fans out like we are a bunch of idiots not supporting our goalie and isn't our #1 goalie Luongo? That is who I was supporting. My #1 olympic goalie is always going to get the start over our back up in a venue like that. What the fu@k was Torts thinking? I was ok with Torts for the season up until this point. This season much like last year at this time has become a fiasco. I love this team and will always cheer the players on the ice but f@ck somethings got to give here. Lets not let this team get K Lowe level. I was a supporter of MG through the bad and the good and for the most part he has done pretty well and I still support him but at this point he has to really do something special to keep his job. #FAfireeveryone

And I actually liked Torts at the beginning of the season, but he has proven over the last 6 weeks why the rest of the league was laughing when he was hired. The Calgary debacle and now the goalie situation. He screwed both Luongo and Lack up with one stupid, Ill-considered decision. He said after the suspension that he had time to reflect on how best to manage the players and the team and then makes this move. Amateur. |

It is definitely a goals for problem. Why couldn't we pick up Boyes or the other end of the spectrum Jagr. When Gillis came on the scene he offered Sundin 10m. That was a polarising move but hell it was awesome and Kesler got 40 goals out of it and learned to be a stud. I know about the cap but Jagr was for peanuts really. What would Jagr do to the locker room? Hard core work ethic for one, teach guys HOW TO step up.....imagine Jagr playing with the Sedins on the PP.....awesome! We have no one to provide the "step up" example. Tampa Bay winning the cup comes to mind - they had Anderchuck come in and totally shake up that locker room. He won the cup wearing the C and was 40.....plus he got lots of greasy goals..... |

I would guess Aquilini(s) is a very hands on owner and has a lot of say/influence in trades and direction of the team.
Is ownership/management playing the long game ignoring the "closing window" and the temptation to make changes and mortgage the future?

I'm sure Torts would put Brad Richards on the 4th line again too. He's only the leading scorer on the Rangers again this season now that Torts gone.

We didn't have the cap space for Jagr....... we were spending to the cap previous to the 6 million drop last year.... hard to add FA when you have no cap space. MG did a good job getting santorelli and richardson with the little space he had.
Edit: Only would have happened if FA bought out Booth. |

Gillis has gone from talking bold moves to being unable to go to the bathroom without a call to FA. |

It was a concern when Torts go here was that he has the abilty to wear out his welcome. I thought he would at least make it through the 1st season. |
