not a bad day, didnt do anything stupid or rash.
Stastny resigning seems to be going in the right direction, signed an interesting undrafted prospect, maybe over spent but now have further insurance in net in case jiggy is broken and can give varly more rest moving futher on our playoffs march.
I am pretty exciting about the Corbett signing. Left Handed 20 year D prospect, dont mind having more of those for sure |

Bizarre trade. - Nucker101
A little but its not the worst thing we could have done. They really have to be concerned with Jiggy to try and add a goalie.
Weird that Fasth and Bryz go for 4th rounders yet we pony up a 2nd for Berra. Roy and Allaire must see something in him and probably will resign him if thats the case |

No kidding, I can understand avoiding Bryz. But they could have outbid the Oilers for Fasth with a 3rd, but maybe he was too expensive as a backup? |

Jiggy will likely retire after this season, we should Fasth would have been nice and money isn't a problem. It really doesn't make sense, I understand wanting to get another goalie as our prospects aren't ready yet. |

Berra must fit Allaire's mold more. I like Berra, he could learn a lot from Varly, who used to slide way out of position |

Thats my thought, didnt want to get a starter rental like Halak or Brodeur to create drama, didnt want to get a goalie with terms already for next season. Maybe he was the only real option and Flames wanted to stick it to the Avs a bit. |

Allaire has talked in length in the about the emergence of European goalies and their style and development. Could be his pick to get him now to work with him instead of perhaps not being able to sign him in the summer or leaving back to europe. |

I have ton wonder how hard we looked at getting D help. I know we want a top guy but we apparently could have had Runblad for almost nothing and Brayden McNabb was also a low cost. I know they're young and unproven, but they have high ceilings. Instead we pay the highest price possible for 3rd goalie? and that while we have two guys in the AHL who could be put in for backup duty at any time. |

So thankful the Avs made the right choices today. Berra is insurance incase Varly or Giggy goes down, which was smart of them.
Also Berra is 27 so he isnt the youngest goalie ever. |

Rundblad and McNabb are bottom pairing dmen. Avs need top four guys. Why trade if you aren't going to upgrade? |

sami and pickard are not ready, and sure we paid a steep price for Berra but if they resign him its not the end of the world.
Roy and Allaire must like what they see in him and feel hes worth a shot. Plus I think since we signed a prospect today, we just gained a 2nd round pick out of that. Corbett coud be decent and when is the last time any undrafted prospect signed with us?

Dater just tweeted that Allaire knows about Berra from all his time in Switzerland and likes him. He did wonders with Varly, why not again.
2nd too high but eff it, lts not the end of the world not to have a 2nd this year. We didnt trade any current players or prospects for him so no harm at the moment |

It's not a bad acquisition in my view, especially when you take into consideration that Avs are 5th in the league, and 1 point from being 3rd in the league.. so this will likely be a very late 2nd round pick come the end of the season. |

Speaking of trades I would just like to point out how Talbot has more points and goals for the Avs than Downie does for the Flyers. Even with him playing 6 more games, that says a hell of a lot.
Along with what Tangs did for us and how well Sob and Jones have done for the Flames.
Sakic and Roy may be on a roll. If Berra becomes a legit back up there is some real brilliance at work here. |

The Avs position at back up goalie was actually a much bigger deal than people may have thought. Giggy started on fire but it looks as if he no longer has anything left in the tank. |

yup i will be surprised if jiggy plays next year at all. He will retire and I think adding Berra is a way to have a safety plan as a back up but dont embarrass Jiggy by demoting him or forcing him to retire. |

Definitely not, they were really shaky when called up. I actually thought we needed a new backup, I was hoping for Budaj, but Montreal probably doesn't want to give him up and that would make our faith in Jiggy look bad. |
